Prop S

As you may know, Parkway is on the November 8 ballot with a no-tax-rate increase bond issue. If approved by voters, Prop S will fund projects across all 29 Parkway schools for the next six years (2023-2028) to keep our aging buildings in good working order. Prop S will not change the current tax rate.

If approved, projects specific to Central High include:

  • Recondition old pool
  • Renovate locker room
  • Replace four boilers and 10 rooftop HVAC units
  • Replace two water pumps
  • Replace 10 roof sections
  • Replace gym A bleachers
  • Replace 13 exterior doors
  • Removal of asbestos floor, ceiling and wallboards
  • Renovate cafeteria serving area
  • Security camera upgrades
  • Replace aging classroom technology (interactive flat panels)

Those projects are in addition to planned renovations and upgrades for all 29 schools. For more information about Prop S, click HERE.

PCH Day of Service: Monday, October 24

After a two year, pandemic related hiatus, Central High will hold our 5th school-wide Day of Service on Monday, October 24. D of S offers a unique and meaningful opportunity for students and staff to realize our district and school mission of being "capable, curious, caring, and confident learners..." In lieu of classes, students will spend the day with their Ac Lab participating in service work organized by grade level:

  • Seniors and juniors will host Central High's Special Olympics Soccer Tournament. Students will serve as buddies with our visiting athletes, as well as carnival workers, game officials, Disney characters, and team mascots.
  • Sophomores will participate in off campus service work at a variety of sites in the area.
  • Freshmen will engage in on campus service learning, which will include information sessions and hands on projects with several local non-profit organizations.

Dismissal will be at 01:30 pm, one hour earlier than normal. Day of Service is weather permitting; if significant rain is in the forecast, Central High will shift to a regular ALL Day schedule. Thank you, in advance, for your support!
