Principal's Message
Good afternoon, Bear Creek High School Community-
Enjoy your Spring Break! We look forward to welcoming everyone back on April 1st.
Increasing Opportunity
The Bear Creek High School Block Schedule Committee formed in the 22-23 school year to research new bell schedules that would create more opportunities for our students.
They have spent the past year and a half collaborating with other sites in LodiUSD as well as surrounding high schools in Northern California to create a schedule that would allow students opportunities to take more classes within the school day than the current six period day allows. After deliberating and working with staff feedback, they developed a 7 period A/B block schedule https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bURfF7ZLVnLN7j4oOCmLxei9fJRmSqjn2yMgs01e94k/edit?usp=sharing that met the state and district requirements. They presented the schedule and a Memorandum of Understanding to teachers and the vote began last Wednesday. We did not meet the 80% approval needed for this schedule to move forward at this time. The committee plans to meet and organize a revote next year. The committee and the site administration believe that a move to a block schedule will increase opportunities for all of our students to improve their college and career readiness by providing access to more classes within the school day.
Our current 6 period day schedule https://bearcreek.lodiusd.net/about-us/bell-schedule will continue with a change to rebranding the name of the block of time tutorial occurs and when it occurs in the school day. More information will be provided at a later date.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hummel

FLASH Waiver
PE students received a waiver for Family Life And Sexual Health
PE students received a waiver for Family Life And Sexual Health (also known as FLASH). The physical education department will be teaching this from April 1st until April 12th. If you do not wish to have your child take this curriculum please sign the waiver and return it to their PE teacher to opt-out and your child will receive different assignments in lieu of the FLASH curriculum. If you would like your child to learn about this curriculum no action is needed on your part and they will receive all of the material on Google Classroom. There is a copy of the curriculum in the office in a yellow binder if you wish to review any of the content. This is a district-wide curriculum and was not written by the Bear Creek PE department.
Student Drop Off
If you are dropping off a student before 8:00am
If you are dropping off a student before 8:00am, please use the front gate near the flagpole. It will be open and monitored by a staff member beginning at 7:15am. The gate nearest the bike rack will be open and monitored starting at 8:00am. Bear Creek appreciates your support in this as it is a safety concern.
Seniors
Seniors who participate in graduation
Seniors who participate in graduation must meet Lodi USD graduation requirements and demonstrate good school behavior. Students suspended from school may be placed on a 45-day social probation. Students can also be placed on social probation for excessive tardies. This means students put on social probation within 45 school days of graduation and graduation practice will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony or other activities. We are getting close to being 45 days away from graduation, March 15th. (Board Policy 6145)
