Dear Riverview Falcon Families,

I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new principal of Riverview Elementary and to welcome you to the 2025–2026 school year! It is an honor to join the Falcon family, and I am so excited to partner with you in supporting the growth and success of every student. Our goal this year is to focus on building strong relationships, working together toward shared goals, and supporting each student in reaching their fullest potential.

This weekly newsletter will be sent out every Friday and is designed to keep you informed and connected. You’ll find important dates, upcoming events, PTA updates, and celebrations of all the great things happening at Riverview.

We are excited to welcome you to campus soon on two important dates:

• August 7th: Popsicles with the Principal for our incoming Kindergarten families

• August 11th: Back-to-School Night for all families

A huge thank you to our custodial staff, office team, and teachers who have worked tirelessly to prepare our building and classrooms for students. I am so impressed with this school community, our building looks beautiful and is full of excitement for the year ahead!

I cannot wait to see our hallways filled with smiling faces and eager learners. Thank you for welcoming me into this incredible community. Let’s make it a fantastic year!

Our Back-to-School night will be held on August 11 from 5:00-6:30. This is casual event is a great way for you to come with your child to meet their teacher and drop off school supplies. If you ordered school supplies through the PTA, those supplies will be on student desks. Teacher presentations will be sent out to families at a later date. We will split the time into two different times based on family last name (see below). This allows for conversations in a less crowded environment and helps with parking.

Back to School Night Times:

5:00-5:45—Family Last Name A-L

5:45-6:30—Family Last Name M-Z

Classroom teacher assignments for the upcoming school year will be available on Monday, August 11th at 12:00 PM through the Skyward Q Parent Portal. Class lists will also be posted during Back to School Night on August 11th from 5:00–6:30 PM.

Please note that class change requests will not be accepted. Our teachers and staff dedicate significant time and care at the end of each school year to thoughtfully create balanced class lists. These decisions are based on a variety of factors, including academics, social-emotional and behavioral needs, peer relationships, and individual student support.

We ask that you trust the process, knowing that our goal is to set every classroom—and every student—up for a successful and positive school year. We are here to support your child and look forward to a great year ahead!

A nurse is now available in the office, so please feel free to call or stop by if you need to:

• Drop off medications or medication orders

• Inform us of any new health conditions

• Provide updated immunization records (especially if your child is new to Riverview)

• Submit a physical exam form (required if your child is attending a Kansas school for the first time and is 8 years old or younger)

We also recommend keeping a change of clothes in your child’s backpack. Accidents and spills—especially during lunch—are common, and we may not always have extra clothing in the right size.

USD 232 continue using visitor management system this year through Centegix. All visitors will continue checking in through the office, however an ID will be a requirement. This ID will be entered into the Centegix system and will create a sticker with a picture that must be visibly worn throughout the building. Nobody will be allowed in the building without an ID. Thank you in advance for your patience as we implement this new system!

The Knight School is returning this fall to Riverview Elementary! The Knight School Chess Team will be your school's official chess team and chess party.

Hello Falcon Families! Our staff would love the help to make Riverview look it’s best to welcome students before the year begins. There are bulletin boards to put up, pencils to be sharpened, and lamination to cut.
