What are ILEARN Checkpoints? 🤔 What are ILEARN Checkpoints? 🤔

The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) requires that all students in grades 3-8 participate in three ILEARN Checkpoints in addition to the ILEARN summative assessment in the spring each year. These checkpoints are a component of the ILEARN through-year assessment for English/Language Arts (ELA) and Math. You should not stress about these tests, they are just little checkups throughout the year.

THESE TESTS ARE NOT IN PERSON - THEY ARE DONE DURING YOUR LIVE HR CLASS SESSIONS

ILEARN Checkpoints are a computer adaptive test for ELA and Math. That means that the questions get harder and easier depending on your students answers. These are replacing STAR tests that students were given previously, and are designed to help teachers know where your student is at in their learning and what topics they may need more help with.

When are ILEARN Checkpoints? 📅 When are ILEARN Checkpoints? 📅

ILEARN Checkpoints are given in a live class session with a teacher. Students HAVE TO ATTEND the session to get the testing code.

ILEARN Checkpoint 1 ELA test is being given 9/15/2026.

Please check your students schedule or reach out to your students homeroom teacher for specific times.

How to Check your Student's Scores 💯 How to Check your Student's Scores 💯

You can access your students scores by going to the Cambium Parent Portal. Your unique access code is emailed from TIDE/Cambium and went out on 9/14. If you cannot find it, your students homeroom teacher is able to look it up. You will use that to login.

**Codes are CASE SENSITIVE! If your student has an apostrophe in their name, please try it with and without the apostrophe.**

Once you are on the Cambium Parent Portal, you will login using the unique access code, your student's date of birth, and their legal first name. That will take you to the page where you can view their scores. See the photos below for an example.

Frequently Asked Questions ❓ Frequently Asked Questions ❓

What can I do to ensure we are ready when the tests start?

To prepare for testing, families can follow the checklist linked HERE!

Does this mean there is no in-person testing?

NO :( We still have required in-person testing in the spring for the ILEARN summative assessment.

My student has an IEP/504 plan or has accommodations, do they still take the test?

Yes! Students with accommodations are still expected to test. These tests are NOT timed, so if your student needs extra time it will be provided. Accommodations should automatically be included on the test itself, but we have noticed some delays in processing these in this first checkpoint. Your student should still take the test and you can let the student's teacher know accommodations were not working correctly after they finish.

Can we be exempt from standardized testing?

NO! Indiana is not an opt-out state. That means all state mandated testing is REQUIRED. That includes ILEARN Checkpoints.

What if we miss the live class? Can we just watch the recording?

No! If students miss the session they need to communicate with their homeroom teacher to ensure they attend the next one. These tests have to be done LIVE with a teacher.

Can I be in the room? Can I help my student?

If your student needs help installing the browser, or has technical issues you can help them. Once they are logged into the test, we ask that you let them test alone in a quiet room if practical. You are not allowed to help them on the test itself.

My student's computer will not download the required browser. Who do I contact?

Ensure your student is using a school provided device and not a personal computer. Reach out to your student's homeroom teacher and let them know if they are using a school device or a personal device. If they are unable to solve the issue on a school device, they will help you get a new computer ordered. If you are using a personal device, they will order you a school device.

My student cannot login! HELP!

Be sure there is an active session with a teacher. If there is not, you will not be able to login to test. Next, get a CLEAR photo of the login screen where it says you cannot login. Send that to your students homeroom teacher. Many parents take this photo with a separate device. Be sure the photo is as clear as possible. We need to be able to see what the student is seeing to help and this is the only way.

If things still are not working, contact the help desk!

I have questions not listed here. Who do I contact?

If you have additional questions, reach out to your students homeroom teacher.
