Hello Northview Families!

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we want to make sure you have all the information you will need for a successful year. Please read the following information along with the important links below.

Sneak Peek: Wednesday, Aug 26th from 4:00 - 6:00 pm Students in grade K-4 will have the opportunity to meet their teachers and see their classrooms. 4K students signed up for a time in Skyward for August 26th or 27th. Please bring your school supplies along that night. There will be tables in the entrance with additional information on activities available to your child within our community. The PTO will be outside for the majority of the time with the Sweet Escapes Ice Cream Food Truck. Sweet Escapes will donate 10% of the earnings back to Northview.

Northview Student Picture Day:
Photos will be taken on October 2nd with a retake day on October 29th. You can order pictures here.

First Day of School: Tuesday, September 1st The doors will open for students at 8:30am. If you are a 4K parent, you may park on Tyler Rd. and walk your children into the front doors of the building. If you are a parent of a K-4th grader, please use the drop off circle in the front of the building. Students will exit their car and walk to the front entrance. Please do not pull around cars in the front circle unless a staff member directs you to do so.

For students who ride the bus to school, please be patient on pick-up times until the routes have been established. The office is unable to provide pick-up and drop-off times for bus routes.

Supply List: The Northview School Supply List can be found here.

Volunteer Background Check:

If you would like to volunteer at Northview or go on field trips during the 2026-2027 school year, please complete the background check.

Attendance: We ask for your cooperation in planning appointments and vacations around our scheduled days off. Regular attendance is vital for your child's education. Please provide a doctor's note for all appointments. Students are allowed 5 excused absences per semester. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's attendance throughout the school year, please don't hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Ellinger. You can access the district calendar here.

Fees: Fees for the upcoming school year are accessible in eFunds and are due September 1. You may also send cash or check for the correct amount payable to School District of Howards Grove. The office is open during sneak peek for payments.

School Lunch & Payments: We are excited to offer nutritious and delicious meal options through the Howards Grove School District Food Service Program. Our school lunch meals provide great value and convenience for busy families. To view the menu please download the my school menus app.

Payments can be made in the school office with cash or check or on eFunds. Note: All lunch accounts must be paid in full and kept current. Lunch balances will rollover the following school year for returning students/families. The account is not child specific, but for the family.

Free & Reduced Lunch can be applied for at any time. If you have any questions, please contact the District Office.

Northview's Student Handbook: Please take a moment to review the Handbook. Most of your questions can be answered within this document.

I look forward to another school year in partnership with you!

Pikmykid Instructions Pikmykid Instructions

We will again be using the PikMyKid app for student dismissal this year. This platform proved highly effective last year in improving efficiency, accuracy in communication, and reducing errors in the dismissal process.

Pikmykid has been updated with your child’s default pick up mode. Please check that this is correct. This is the way your child will be sent home each day, if it is not correct, please contact the Northview office. Once the default is correct, feel free to select dates on the calendar that you know your child will be going home a different way (example soccer, girl scouts, etc)

For families who are new to Northview, or for those who would like a refresher, we have included the link with instructions on how to download, set up, and use the app.

Parent Guide to PikmyKid

Important reminders:

  • All dismissal changes must be entered into PikMyKid before 2:45pm.

  • Staff have been directed to follow the dismissal information exactly as it appears in the app so please make sure it’s accurate and up to date.

  • Using recurring events can save time and reduce the chance of errors if your child’s schedule is consistent.

Below are all of the dismissal options on Pikmykid and specifics on when you would choose that option.

  • 11:30-4K Only - this is for our AM 4K students ONLY who are exiting the building at 11:30 with a parent or on the 11:30 bus.

  • Tiger Den PM - this is for registered after school PM Tiger Den students starting at 3:30. (If a 4K child goes to wraparound and is staying past 3:30, select this as your child’s dismissal option)

  • Kindergarten and 4K West Lot - this is for parents picking up a Kindergarten or 4K student at 3:30. Siblings of those students will also be dismissed in that spot.

  • Car Line 1 - this is only for students in grades 1-4. It is our car line that goes through the front circle.

  • Bus - this is for our PM 4K and K-4th grade students taking the bus at 3:30. Your child’s colored bus route has been assigned in the app.

  • After School - this is for students staying after school for an activity (girl scouts, soccer, basketball) Please select the specific activity and recurring dates if applicable.

  • Walker - this is for students walking or biking home or 4K students walking home with a sibling. These students check out in the office.

Drop-Off:

Parent drop-off and walkers may arrive at 8:30am. Cars will line up in the front circle, and cones will be out for cars to pull up to. Please keep the drop off circle moving. Students may begin exiting your car by the sign that says “Drop off Begins Here,” near the bike racks. Students will walk into the front door and will walk directly to their classroom. Parents must use the front circle for drop-off. Parents are encouraged to enter from the East (on Tyler Rd), go through the front circle to drop-off, and then exit the school grounds by going West on Tyler Rd). If you are dropping off a 4K student or sibling you have the option to park on Tyler Rd. and walk your children across the circle crosswalk.

Bus riders will begin arriving around 8:30am. All 4K students will have a classroom aide to get them off of the bus first. Students K-4 will go directly to their classroom. During the first week of school, Kindergarten teachers will be outside to collect all of their students and will walk them directly to their classrooms.

Pick-up:

  • 4K AM students will be picked up in the front of the building at 11:30am. Cars may park on Tyler Rd, and students will be walked to the flag pole by staff to their guardian.

  • 4K PM and Kindergarten will be picked up by parents in the WEST lot beginning at 3:30pm. An adult should park and exit their vehicle, walk across the crosswalk, and wait in the grass area outside the gym door. From there, a staff member will enter your student(s) PikMyKid code and your child will be retrieved from inside the gym. The adult MUST have the PikMyKid code(s) in order for your child/children to be released. Please refrain from blocking/entering through the gym doors. A staff member will bring your child outside to make sure that each child is handed off to the appropriate adult. When walking to and from your vehicle, please make sure that you are utilizing the crosswalk and NOT walking between the buses. Your default pick up mode will be set to Kindergarten and 4K West Lot. Any older siblings will also be set to be picked up in the west lot.

  • Our 1st-4th grade students who participate in parent pick-up will enter the front circle on Tyler Rd. Students will be brought directly to your car starting at 3:30pm. Make sure to have your car tag visible for staff to see. Bus students will line up in our gym and our staff will dismiss each student to the correct bus.

Thank you for partnering with us to ensure a smooth and safe dismissal for all students.
