Saturday School Reinstated for Unexcused Absences
Due to an overwhelming number of unexcused student absences, Scappoose High School will be reinstituting Saturday School. Students who accumulate unexcused absences will be assigned to attend. To excuse your student's absence, you must contact Tina Gift directly at 971-200-8005 ext. 5015 or tgift@scappoose.k12.or.us . Written notes will not be accepted as an excuse. Accepted reasons for an excused absence include: personal illness or medical appointment, illness or death in the family, religious observance, school-sponsored activity, or emergency situations approved by administration. Please remember: any absence occurring midday must be arranged through Tina Gift prior to your student leaving campus. Students with excessive tardiness and multiple detentions will be assigned Saturday School on 11/7.

LIBRARY NEWS
The SHS Library wants to give a big shout out to our colleagues in the English department for sharing our Build a Better Library survey with SHS students! We’ve had 140 students respond with great and diverse suggestions of books they’d like to see added to the library shelves. They’ve also shared ideas for ways that we can improve the library’s vibe, from softer lighting to a slide! The SHS Library staff will get to work on your suggestions, so look for new books coming soon. (We’re not sure about the slide…)
SHS BAND NEWS
Scappoose Bands is teaming up with Astoria-based Jammers Jam Co. for a delicious fundraiser featuring locally made jams, BBQ sauces, and apple butter!
October 29 – November 12 - 50% of fundraiser sales go directly to Scappoose Bands!
Every jar features a custom Scappoose Bands label and a QR code that plays music featuring our very own student musicians! These make great holiday gifts while supporting local students.
Everyone can participate! You don’t need to know a band student to order. Shop online, share with friends and family, or send a gift anywhere in the U.S.. Student-collected orders will be delivered to Scappoose High School on November 18.
Order here: www.jammersjamco.com/sb
Please check out the following events and sign up to volunteer for as many as your time allows! There are sign-ups for both students and parents (grandparents or other adult family members are welcome to volunteer with a current background check through the district). So please check them out!
