Picture of the week: our 4th grade class won the MASS DOT "Name a Snowplow" Contest for District 6 this Winter. Here they are, pictured with Phil Eng (middle, General Manager of the MBTA), Representatives from Senator Sal DiDomenico's office, and several MASS DOT snowplow workers. Their name "K-Pop Snow Hunter" (a reference to the very popular movie), was also chosen as a local News Anchor's favorite this year. Look for K-Pop Snow Hunter on the Roads around Cambridge! Thank you to Ms. Toomey for this awesome opportunity for our 4th graders!

A Very Human Organization A Very Human Organization

This has been a challenging week at Saint Peter School, a week that reminds us that a school is, at its heart, a very human organization. We are shaped by the people who show up for one another through moments of challenge and of grace!

We hold in our hearts Ms. Julie Songer, whose mother passed away peacefully at home on Thursday while we were at Mass; I hope you will join me in praying for her soul and for Ms. Songer and her family. More details about funeral arrangements and ways to support Ms. Songer will be shared soon. We also keep in prayer several other members of our community navigating their own situations:

  • Mrs. Flynn unfortunately suffered a broken wrist and rib this week and will be out until at least Monday next week.
  • We also have a faculty member that is navigating an unresolved family situation
  • Mrs. Adams continues to be in recovery on medical leave, though she is doing well and is in good spirits!

These are the realities of life in a community built on real relationships, and we are grateful for your patience and prayers as we support one another!

However, even amid these challenges, the week has been full of light!

  • Our dedicated team continues to inspire me with their commitment to our students and mission. We run a very lean ship, and still manage to take some hits and keep sailing! Thank you to everyone that makes this possible!
  • We also joyfully welcome Mr. Daniel Abreu, our new Spanish teacher who will be covering for Sra. Carazo while she is out.
  • We also joyfully welcome Ms. Izzie Rose, our new Assistant Director of the After School Program (who will take over as Director when Mr. O'Connor goes on Family Leave in March).
  • We were delighted to welcome Phil Eng for a visit alongside our newly named snowplow (see above). Mr. Eng is the General Manager of the MBTA, so quite a big name for the students to get to meet.
  • We are prepared and excited for Catholic Schools Week next week! I hope to see many of you at mass on Sunday! Students that wear their uniforms to the Mass on Sunday will have a free tag day on Tuesday next week!

Finally, you should all be aware that progress reports will be making their way made their way home today via Backpack Express. Please read over the progress report and reach out to your teacher(s) if you have any questions.

Thank you for being part of this place that we are all making together!

We have a great international school body that we want to celebrate!!

Calling for families to show us their heritage at a potluck dinner.

You may decorate your table any way you like, some examples: media, photos, games, food, crafts. Interactive tables are very popular. We will provide passports for the kids and country stickers for each table to handout, along with country facts to discuss with table representatives, a scavenger hunt and a large map for kids to tac where they are from. Join us for an amazing night as we tour around the world. All are welcome, even if you don’t host a table!

Note: Used uniforms will be available for purchase at International Night. Anyone wishing to donate uniforms is welcome to bring them that evening.

Hey Team - A third grade parent and coach had a great idea - Harvard vs. Brown women's basketball game on Saturday 1/31 (game starts at 7pm): https://gocrimson.evenue.net/promotions/ST PETER'S BASKETBALL!

Tickets are $12/person. (For the 3rd and 4th grade team, we will be inviting siblings and parents to come along too.) The game will be general admission and it should be no problem for each team to sit together.

The ticket rep said that she would be happy to coordinate a high five tunnel for the St. Peter's girls and the Harvard team.

Let us coaches know if your girls are interested!
