Character Word of the Month
Hello Whitesburg Families!
What a great week of teaching and learning we have had at the Burg!
Our Buddy-A-Thon fundraiser began this week! The fundraiser will run from August 18, 2026 through September 8, 2026. Funds raised will be used for library enhancement and other activities to make learning fun for our students. In the first two days, we have $4,000 in donations. If we continue this trend and have $2,000 per day donations for the complete fund raiser, we would actually have $48,000 in donations!! Let’s Do It!!
We will be celebrating Attendance Awareness this week with a dress up week. Let's have some fun showing our PRIDE, while reminding us how important attendance is each day learning together! See Flyer Below.
Let's continue to strive for excellence in everything that we do.
Thank you for your support! I am blessed to serve with you at the BURG!
One Team. One Pride 🦁

🦁 Meet Burgie!
Our PBIS program has a fun new tradition, and we want our families to know all about Burgie the Goose! Each week, one classroom will have the opportunity to earn Burgie by demonstrating positive behaviors, kindness, responsibility, respect, school pride, and following our school expectations. Burgie becomes that class's mascot for the week and travels with them throughout their school day.
And Burgie has a wardrobe! 👗👔🎩 Each classroom that earns Burgie receives a suitcase filled with clothes and accessories so they can dress Burgie up and show off their school spirit.
✂️ We Need a Burgie Seamstress or Tailor!
Here's where we need your help! The clothes I have been able to find for purchase are almost all holiday-themed, and we would love to have outfits that Burgie can wear throughout the school year. We are looking for a parent, grandparent, or family member who loves to sew and would be willing to make some outfits for Burgie.
Burgie is a typical 23-inch porch goose, so if you are handy with a sewing machine and would enjoy helping us build Burgie's wardrobe, we would LOVE it! 🧵🦁
If you are interested in helping our Burgie become the best-dressed goose in Huntsville, simply make-it and send it.
One Team. One Pride. One very fashionable Burgie! 🦁💙🧡

Title 1 Parent Coordinator Needed
If you know anyone that is interested in our Title 1 Parent Coordinator position, please contact Ms. Jones, Principal. It is a 19 hours a week part-time contracted position.
Slushies
We will sell slushies each Friday afternoon.
· $1 for 5oz cup
· $5 for souvenir Whitesburg Elementary Plastic Cup. This cup can be reused each Friday for a $2 refill.
(Slushie Friday's intention is not a fundraiser. It is for student encouragement and celebration. However, we do make a little money off of the sales, and that money goes into WBES's General Budget and is used for student incentives.)
SchoolCash Online
Students cannot be dropped off in the parking lots for arrival-This is unsafe!
Bullying
Any intentional and repeated act of unwanted aggressive or demeaning behavior involving a real or perceived power imbalance, in which one or more people intentionally and repeatedly cause physical or psychological harm to another person. To be considered bullying, the conduct must also place a student in reasonable fear of harm or of damage to property, have the effect of substantially interfering with educational performance or school operations, or create a hostile, intimidating, threatening, or abusive educational environment.
