Welcome Back Redhawks!
As summer vacation comes to a close, we are looking forward to welcoming 7th graders to GJH and reconnecting with our 8th graders!
As a reminder, 7th grade students will start school on Wednesday, August 12th. The 8th graders will join us starting on August 13th. Families from each grade level will have an opportunity to visit the school, see classrooms, and meet teachers at our Back to School Nights:
7th Grade Back to School Night: Tuesday, August 11th, 5-7 p.m.
8th Grade Back to School Night: Wednesday, August 12th, 5-7 p.m.
This year, Mrs. Padilla (School Counselor) and Mrs. Herschberger (Assistant Principal) will work with 7th graders, while Mrs. Christoffersen (School Counselor) and Ms. Shepherd (Assistant Principal) will work with 8th graders.
Please reach out if you have questions. We will see you soon!
Yondr Pouches and GCS Cell Phone Policy
Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, all GCS students in grades 7-12 will use Yondr pouches as part of Indiana's new statewide requirements regarding student cell phone use during the school day.
This initiative is designed to support student learning, increase engagement, and create a more focused educational environment.
Why are we making this change?
• Indiana Senate Bill 78 requires bell-to-bell restrictions on personal wireless devices.
• Research shows reduced distractions can improve learning.
• Schools implementing Yondr have reported increased engagement and improved school culture.
• Encourages face-to-face interaction and stronger student connections.
For more information about how Yondr Bags will work, visit Goshen Community Schools - Yondr Information Center. The document below explains how Yondr bags will be used at GJH.

Dress Code
Our goal is to help students understand and evaluate appropriate settings for formal vs. informal attire, which is a skill they will use in the world beyond school. Students will see this addressed starting on the first day of school.
We appreciate parents working with us on this. If you have questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact an administrator.
