October Newsletter
Fall Is Here!
Happy October Astro Families!
We've had a great start to the school year. Attendance is improving which means our Astros are committing to attending school regularly. Improved attendance leads to better educational outcomes for students.
As we continue through the year we have lots of activities happening on campus. We have our first Bingo night October 1st, our cross country and volleyball teams are working hard and competing with their whole hearts, and school clubs are happening almost every day of the week at lunch.
One reminder is that cell phones and personal electronic devices need to be off and away at school. We're seeing an increase in cell phone violations amongst students. If you need to reach your child, please call the office. As well, when students have their phones on during the day, it can interrupt the district wifi and it's ability to connect. Keeping phones powered off limits distractions and improves network capabilities.
Thank you for your continued support of our Astros!

- Bring a note to the attendance office stating the date(s) of the absence and the reason(s) for the absence.
- Have his or her parent or guardian call the attendance office at 916-971-5500 and give the date(s) of the absence and the reason(s) for the absence.
- Report absences from their parent portal.
- Use TalkingPoints to message our attendance clerk
Attendance Improvement
The district is providing $5000 to schools with the highest improvement in attendance overall for the first 3 months of school. The current attendance improvement ends October 30th. Our Astros are making HUGE growth in their attendance so keep it up!
