Happy Friday!

After the consistent decline of COVID-19 in Boulder and Broomfield counties since the Omicron variant surge in January and February, we are again experiencing a rise in cases. Please see this COVID Message from BVSD for more information.

May 10th was National Fentanyl Awareness Day. On the afternoon of May 10th Parents and high school students received a district-wide message with important information and resources about this growing fentanyl public health crisis. For more information see the following links:

Our Sources of Strength Peer Leadership Group will be giving a school wide presentation on the opioid epidemic and Narcan, the drug used to reverse overdoses, on Monday May 16th during Advisory periods.

GOOD NEWS! BVSD is expanding College Before Graduation opportunities through Front Range Community College. Deadline to submit paperwork is May 17, 2022. These are college course sections offered exclusively to BVSD High School students. Tuition, books, and fees are at no cost to the students. Here is a listing of what is being offered for Summer and Fall of 2022. Students may prefer these sections over sections taught on the FRCC campus because:

  • Books and fees will be covered. For regular FRCC sections of these courses, families are responsible for the costs beyond tuition.

  • Rigor and expectations are the same, yet students are taking the course with high school peers.

  • During the summer, the times will be during the day. For Fall semester, the times will be outside of normal high school hours.

Sign up at this website. For additional college course offerings, on-campus or online, visit www.frontrange.edu.

If you have any questions please reach out to CareerandCollege@bvsd.org.

Have a great weekend!

Staff Appreciation week at NMSHS was great!

Staff Appreciation week at NMSHS was great!
The Panther Parents PTA coordinated a week of food, treats, and gifts for our amazing staff!

On Monday the school was decorated with blue and gold thank you flags, along with a sign for each staff member with quotes from the students about how appreciated they are hanging on a clothes line outside the library.

Dunkin’ Donuts were also provided for the staff to enjoy at the school and at the bus barn.

On Tuesday the staff was given Nederland Panthers tote bags with lots of goodies inside & coaches and bus barn staff were given Eldora Tote gift bags during the week too.

On Wednesday, a catered bagel & smear, fruit salad, and juice breakfast was served at the school and the bus barn.

On Thursday, chair massages were provided for our staff.

On Friday, a mobile coffee cart came to the school over lunchtime and the staff had delicious drinks along with baked treats.

We have an awesome staff at NMSHS, and we hope they enjoyed the week and know how very much we truly appreciate them all!

We would like to say a big “Thank You” to all the NMSHS families that contributed to the PTA to help make this week happen!
