I am excited to announce we have partnered with Bonzy Charities and the Marzetti Company in the month of November. This partnership will provide every student at French Run with a brand new winter coat!

On Thursday November 6th, students will have the opportunity to pick out and try on winter coats while at school. Every class will come to the gym at their designated times and each student will be partnered with a volunteer. The volunteers will find the right size and help students pick out a coat they like. Once students have picked out their new coat, their name will be written on the inside tag so they do not lose it.

Thank you to Bonzy Charities and the Marzetti company for providing new coats to our French Run students.

5th Grade

Fifth graders completed a food truck project. Students utilized their area and perimeter skills to design a food truck. Second and Third graders were kind enough to come to our classrooms and "buy" items from our food trucks. 5th graders utilized their knowledge of adding and subtracting decimals to figure out how much their food truck made. One food truck made $729.34!

Fifth graders have also learned about inventors and the writing process in ELA!

French Run Challenge Coin French Run Challenge Coin

Introducing the French Run Challenge Coin

As part of our PBIS awards in connection with our monthly Pride assemblies, Mr. Fetty would like to introduce the French Run Challenge Coin. Students who are nominated for a monthly Pride Award will receive a certificate, a t-shirt and our new challenge coin.

The challenge coin was created to represent who we are as a school and as a learning community. The coin has our Felix the Firebird mascot on the front. Around the edge of the coin you will find our S.O.A.R expectations of Self Control, On-Task, Accepting, and Respect. You will also see other characteristics that are important to French Run such as Perseverance, Integrity, Empathy and Citizenship.

The back of the coin is representative of what it takes to receive a Pride Award. A soaring firebird, leadership and respect.

It is our hope that this will be a treasured keepsake for our students to remember their time at French Run for years to come.

Donuts with the Principal Donuts with the Principal

Donuts with the Principal is a monthly incentive program for our students who demonstrate positive behaviors throughout the month. 78 students were nominated by their teachers to have a donut with the principal. These students demonstrate our S.O.A.R expectations daily and set a great example for all students to follow.

Here is what it means to S.O.A.R:

S - Self Control

O - On Task

A - Accepting

R - Respect

Congratulations to this months nominees for Donuts with the Principal.

Positive Behavior Spotlight: 5 star Behavior and Effort!

ALMOST THERE...

All classes that were rated this month were observed to have 4 star behavior and effort in the classroom (Ms. Jackson's, Ms. Gregory's, all third grade classes, and Mr. Phillipe's classes)... so close! We will continue our search NEXT month for the classes that are giving their best toward behavior and effort!

However; we would like to shout out our SOAR sightings winner for this month: Ms. Adya's class!

Ms. Adya's class was given the most SOAR sightings this month for SOARing OUTSIDE of the classroom setting (like in the hallway)! Ms. Adya's class will have the opportunity to choose from one of the following prize choices:

  • Dance Party
  • Race the Principal
  • Lunch with Firebird Adults
  • Staff vs. Students Dodgeball Game
  • Whole Class Happy Postcards

Principal for a Day Principal for a Day

All of the RCS Principals for the Day

On Tuesday October 14th, Reynoldsburg City Schools welcomed community partners to participate in Principal for the Day. Last year, French Run was featured on Good Day Columbus and our principal for the day was none other than Cameron Fontana. This year we had the privilege of having the City of Reynoldsburg Mayor Joe Begeny and Police Chief Curtis Baker as our guest principals for the day.

Mayor Begeny and Chief Curtis greeted students and gave out lots of fist bumps as students entered the building. They made their way around the building to see all of the great things happening in each classroom. Students gave them great advise on what it takes to be a principal. They also got to ask questions about being the Mayor and Chief of Police of the City of Reynoldsburg.

Of course, anytime we have special guests, Mr. Fetty gets a picture with them holding the French Run Pride belt!

Beginning Monday September 15th, all family communication was transitioned to using Talking Points. You may click on the link below for additional information about Talking Points.

https://intercom.help/talkingpoints/en/articles/10504279-translated-talkingpoints-families-app-invitations-printable

Parent/Guardians will be automatically enrolled with your phone number and e-mail addresses on file in the office.

It is very important that your phone number is updated so you can stay up to date with information from the building! To begin, TalkingPoints will automatically allow us to communicate by text messages to your phone. If you wish, you can download the TalkingPoints Parent app to your phone. This allows you to do more advanced features such as react to messages, RSVP to events, and more. Downloading the app is optional.

Any changes in phone number, e-mail address, or other important information should be communicated to the front office as soon as you can.

Change of addresses are required by Ohio Law, and should be communicated with our welcome center. Cindy in the French Run front office can help with this process.
