Fall Concert

Our Fall Concert is FAST approaching on October 6 at 7 pm! Please ensure this date is on everyone's calendar!

We are currently finishing up dress fittings and alterations and will soon begin tuxedo fittings. For all students wearing a tuxedo, please note that students are responsible for providing their own dress black shoes, black socks that cover the ankle, and a plain white button-down dress shirt. Dress shirts should be solid white, and the collar should be a classic design with no buttons. Please see the guide below for the correct collar style and feel free to email me with any questions!

District Auditions THIS Saturday

The following information is for all Chorale students, AAC students, and NV students who took on the All-State Challenge. If this does not apply to you, feel free to skip to the next section.

The District Auditions are THIS Saturday at Clements High School. All students are required to ride the bus TO the auditions with us. Students who wish to get picked up after their audition MUST have a parent notify me in writing (email) by Friday at 3:00 pm. All students not picked up by the end of auditions will ride the bus back to Travis.

We also need at least one parent chaperone to sit with the students all day since I will be unavailable and judging. If you are willing to help out, please send me an email to let me know!

Itinerary:

6:30 am: Report to Travis High School for warm-ups. A light breakfast will be provided.

7:15 am: Depart for Clements

7:30 am: Registration opens

9:00 am: Auditions begin

approx. 4:00 pm: Load bus and return to THS

Please note of the following:

  1. Students may NOT have their cellphone or any electronic device on or with them once registered. All phones will be turned in to the parent chaperone and given back to students at the conclusion of auditions. Students may ONLY use their phone at the supervised call table if they wish to call home and be picked up early once their audition has concluded.
  2. Students should bring plenty of board games, puzzles, books, homework, etc to keep themselves entertained during the day. NO electronic equipment (phones, computers, tablets, watches, etc.) may be used.
  3. Students MUST have original copies of their music with them.
  4. The concession stand is CASH ONLY. Lunch is NOT provided for students so they need to bring their own food for the day, or plan to buy from the Clements Choir Concession Stand.

Chorale Updates

Chorale is off to a great start! In addition to everything above, we discussed varsity expectations for these students. They have a much more demanding schedule compared to other classes with several that I'd like to highlight for Varsity Chorale parents:

  • Please ensure students are keeping up with their grades! Eligibility is essential to our success as an ensemble as we move further into the semester and plan outreach performances!
  • Treble Singers: Mark Thursday, October 8 on your calendar as a day not to miss school! We will be traveling up to Texas A & M University for their annual Treble Choir Day! I'm so excited for this awesome day of learning and meeting other students from around the Houston area!
  • Sectionals: Sectionals are offered for students auditioning in the All-State process. As of now they are NOT required, however, students need to be working independently and coming to sectionals for maximum success. They have practice tracks available to them in their Schoology course. While sectionals are not graded, the Mock Audition will be so please check in on your child to ensure they are practicing and working on the first round of music.

AAC Level-Down Forms

If your child is currently in the Choir AAC course and would like to level down, applications are now available from the counselor's office. Please have your child stop by to retrieve the packet and gather the requested signatures ASAP so that the counseling department can begin processing them. Weekly AAC recordings will soon begin on All State Music so we want to ensure the course code gets switched as soon as possible.

Presto Assistant

Thank you so everyone so far who has logged in to Presto to sign forms and pay fees. As a reminder, all fees and most forms this year will be done via the Presto Assistant website. To access the website, please CLICK HERE. A few points below:

  • If you are NEW to the THS Choir Program: You should have received several emails from Presto Assistant inviting you to finishing setting up your profile. I have already created a profile for every student and the first parent listed in Skyward. The email listed in Skyward is the email that should have received the Presto email. Please follow the directions to complete your profile set up in order to pay fees and sign required forms.
  • If you are a returning parent who does not remember your Presto login, please follow the directions on the website to reset your password to access your account.
  • If you have multiple students and both students do not appear in your parent account, please let me know so that I can ensure they are linked correctly.
  • Presto Assistant does not allow student profiles to pay choir fees or sign forms so please ensure you are able to access your account.

I appreciate those of you who have reached out with your issues as I am working closely with the Presto team to solve individual issues and inform them on how to better streamline the platform for parents.
