The EPISD Extended Day Learning Center is a fee-based, licensed childcare operation that is campus-based to allow seamless transition from the classroom to after-school care for Tom Lea students. The intent of the program is to provide a safe environment that enhances the student experience through fun high quality after school activities. This will encourage and support positive behaviors and experiences. This program operated by the school district and the employees of the program work for the El Paso Independent School District.

The Mission of the El Paso ISD Extended-Day Program is to provide a safe and supportive family environment that enriches social skills and enhances the student experience during out-of-school time. Our campus-based programs will allow for seamless transition from the classroom to before and after-school supervision, achieving a successful school and play relationship to build respect for self and others.

The goals of the Extended Day Learning Center are:

❖ Focus on the educational, social, and physical needs of all children.

❖ Provide working families with a safe and secure environment for before and after-school care.

❖ To have a safe and fun environment where all children can thrive.

The Program will follow the EPISD school calendar approved by the Board of Trustees. The Program will operate when school is in session, during intercession weeks, and during the summer.

• Before School: The Program is available from 6:00AM to 7:30AM. At 7:30AM, the students will follow school procedures.
• After-School: The Program is available after school dismissal from 3:25 to 6:00 PM.
• Early Dismissal Days: The Program will be available from 12:00 to 6:00PM (8/21, 9/10, 9/18, 2/4, 2/12, 5/7)

On Holiday early dismissal days, the Program will not be open and students will be dismissed at 12:00PM from school.

Intersession & Summer hours – 7:00AM to 5:30PM

❖ Registration fees and tuition are non-refundable and non-transferable.

❖ Before & After-school tuition is due on the first business day of each month.

The Extended Day Learning Center will only accept payment through School Cash Online. Once you create an account, you will be able to pay your tuition through Credit Card payments (Visa and MasterCard only).

● Before school - students will have a variety of hands on activities.

● Homework time—Children are provided a quiet environment dedicated to homework Monday thru Thursday. Books are available to read for children who have completed their homework. Program staff will provide direction and assistance when possible. Homework and reading time are not used as a discipline tool.

● Snack—each child is offered a daily snack that meets HHSC Minimum Standard requirements.

● Physical time—Children are provided structured and unstructured time for physical activities.

● Arts & Crafts—Age appropriate centers and art activities to keep children entertained and fulfill the creative side of their personalities.

● Enrichment activities—Hands on activities that may include science, storytelling, technology, and more. Alternate activities will be provided for students under the age of five.

● Students under the age of five will be lined up and taken to the restroom as a group to be supervised at all times by the activity leader.

● Playground equipment - will only be used in the summer. Please be advised that the playground may or may not comply with the minimum standards set by Texas Health and Human Services.

● Summer & Intercession – If students are under our care for more than 5 hours, a nap or rest time is required.
