2nd GradeNewsletter April 13 - 17

Greetings!

What a fun week in Second Grade! It's hard to believe we will be halfway through April next week! Please see below for some important dates and events coming up! If you have any questions, please contact your student's homeroom teacher.

🌟 Math

In math we are wrapping up our unit on fractions. The students have enjoyed partitioning objects into halves, fourths and eighths and counting beyond one whole.

πŸ“š ELAR (English Language Arts & Reading)

In reading, we are synthesizing a text based on a theme. This week we have started looking at texts on the theme of transportation. The students are making great connections reading a variety of genres on transportation.

πŸ—ΊοΈ Social Studies
We started making our goods to sell for Market Day. The students are showing so much creativity and putting some great energy in their products. There is so much excitement surrounding our Market Day already!

πŸ” Science

In science we are exploring how animals use their bodies and certain behaviors to meet their basic needs. Our larvae arrive next week and we will begin to study the life cycle of a butterfly.

πŸ“· Spring Picture Day Ordering Info. πŸ“Έ πŸ“· Spring Picture Day Ordering Info. πŸ“Έ

We had our Spring Pictures on Tuesday, March 31. If you are wanting to order individual pictures, you should receive an email in the next day or so with a personalized code (if Lifetouch has your email) that will go straight to their Individual images so you can order. If they do not have your email, then when the proofs are returned to WRE, it will have the personalized code on there.

For the group pictures, there will not be an email, but for anyone that did not preorder, there will be proofs sent with the packages when they are returned. The proofs will have personalized codes that will take them to the group they want to order.

This should apply to all students, Suzuki included.

If you need help ordering, contact the Customer Care Team at 800-736-4753 or go on-line to mylifetouch.com and use the Live Chat feature to speak with a representative.

  • If you are dropping off your child’s lunch, please make sure to bring it NO LATER than 12:00 PM.

We truly appreciate your help in making sure every child has a stress-free and smooth lunchtime. Thank you for your cooperation and support!

  • Please make sure your child is not bringing any toys to school. Several students are taking their Labubus off their backpacks and playing with them throughout the day or taking them to Specials. These items need to be left at home. Thank you!

  • Along with weekly Phonics practice, have your child read something of their choice for 20 minutes a night or 100 minutes for the week. Please see the Take Home Support pictured here for more guidance on At-Home Phonics activities. This paper is also located in each student's purple folder.

  • Your student is now expected to type in their own username and password to log in to their chromebook. Log in to Skyward to find their username and password and help them memorize it at home!

  • Please be sure to bring a labeled water bottle and healthy snack daily.

  • Please check Take Home folders each week for teacher communication regarding classroom behavior and to empty contents.

Kids Heart Challenge is here! Our students are learning how to keep their hearts and brains healthy, and raising funds to help kids with special hearts.

We’re asking all families to sign up and complete Finn’s Mission, where they will learn Hands-Only CPR and the warning signs of a stroke. All students who sign up will receive a wristband.

Here’s how you can help:

  1. Sign Up Today or download the AHA Schools app.
  2. Complete Finn’s Mission: Share with family and friends through social media, text and/or email so they too can learn the warning signs of stroke and Hands-Only CPR.

Thank you for supporting our school and students in saving lives!
