Highlights from The Mesa
Thank you to VAPA and CTE for hosting the annual Monstruo Mash. They raised over $700 to benefit Monty's Market. In case you didn't know, Monty's Market is our on campus thrift store ran by our students with disabilities in the transition program.
Thank you to all the students and staff who dressed up for Halloween.
The teachers in the 1500 building made their hallway extra spooky.
From the Principal's Office
Aztec Students and Families,
As we welcome the month of November, I am reminded of the importance of gratitude and giving thanks. This is a wonderful time to reflect on the people in our lives who love, encourage, and support us, as well as the opportunities and privileges we sometimes take for granted. I encourage everyone to challenge themselves to find at least one thing to be grateful for each day. Even better, take a moment to tell someone how much you appreciate them! Whether it's a family member, friend, teacher, or someone who simply makes your day a little brighter, a few kind words can go a long way. Not only will you make someone else feel good, but I promise it will make you feel good, too! A little gratitude can make a big difference.
Our latest progress reports were distributed last Friday, and we are officially entering the final six weeks of Semester 1! Parents, if you haven't already done so, please ask your child to share the paper progress report they received in their Period 3 class. If they've misplaced it, no worries! You can also view their grades through Infinite Campus. If you need assistance accessing this information, please reach out to your child's counselor or our Family Center. Students, I encourage you to take a good look at your progress report and reflect on where you currently stand. Are you happy with your grades? Are there areas where you could be doing better? Most importantly, what is your plan for these final six weeks? How will you improve in the classes where you're falling behind? How will you overcome the challenges that have made certain subjects difficult? Remember, you don't have to figure it all out alone! Our Magic Center offers free tutoring every Monday through Thursday after school until 5:00 p.m., and we have Saturday School coming up this Saturday, November 7th! Take advantage of these opportunities and the people who are here to support you. But remember, things won't change on their own. YOU have to put in the work, make the effort, and take ownership of your success! Six weeks is plenty of time to make meaningful progress, but the time to start is NOW!
Lastly, winter sports are right around the corner! If you've been thinking about getting involved in athletics, now is your chance! Tryouts are coming up for Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Boys Wrestling, Girls Wrestling, and Girls Water Polo. Whether you're a returning athlete or looking to try something new, I encourage you to get out there and give it a shot! Be sure to read the Athletics section below for important information on how to get cleared to participate. If you have questions, stop by and see Coach Martin in the New Gym during Nutrition Break or after school.
Let's make November a month of gratitude, growth, and determination! We have so much to be thankful for and so much still to accomplish. Let's make it a great week, Aztecs! 💙❤️
Take care,
Ms. Scott
Proud Principal
