🌞 Sunshine Foundation 🌞 Sunshine Foundation

The Sunshine Foundation answers the dreams of children, ages three through eighteen, who have severe or profound physical/developmental/intellectual challenges or trauma from physical/sexual abuse, and whose families have limited income. They have three Dream Programs:

🌟 Sunshine Foundation’s special dreams can be customized to anything the child desires. Some of the more common special dreams are outdoor play equipment, shopping sprees, family trips, adaptive medical or therapeutic equipment, as well as electronics.

🌟 Magical Dreams - Most of the children we serve wish to visit the Central Florida theme parks and attractions when asked the simple question: “If you could have one dream, what would it be?” The entire immediate family enjoys a Once-In-A-Lifetime vacation away from their routine of hospitals, therapies, and medical treatments.

🌟 Sunshine Foundation's Dream Village is a fairy tale resort located in the heart of central Florida theme parks. It offers amenities and activities, including a swimming pool, playground, and miniature golf course, all specially designed to be accessible for wheelchairs and other special needs.

Visit https://sunshinefoundation.org/ for more information and to refer your child.

National Special Education Day

December 2nd is National Special Education Day. On this day in 1975, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) was signed into law, reaffirming the importance of inclusive education for students with special needs. This year's theme is to highlight the accomplishments of special education teachers, students, parents, support staff, and administrators. The day also raises awareness of the educational challenges that students with disabilities face.

Delaware Day

Did you know that Delaware has TWO Delaware Days?? Since 1933, the governors of Delaware have proclaimed December 7 as Delaware Day in honor of that day in 1787, when Delaware became the first state to ratify the Federal Constitution, thus making Delaware the first state in the New Nation.

National Delaware Day is also observed on July 13 every year. The holiday aims to commemorate the state of Delaware and how it was the first American state to officially declare independence from the British. The land of Delaware used to be a part of the states of New York and, later, Pennsylvania, but now it stands proud of its own. The state was named after the Delaware River and Bay, which was, in turn, named after Thomas West, Third Baron De La Warr. It gained official statehood in 1776 when the 13 colonies declared independence from the British.
