September Newsletter

Principal's Corner
Dear Mountain View Families,
We are off to a wonderful start this school year! The past few weeks have been filled with excitement, learning, and strong collaboration among our students. It has been a joy to see our Mountain Lions engaged in meaningful lessons and working together to grow both academically and socially.
As you may have noticed, our Entry Shield stations are now fully set up, and our students are quickly becoming familiar with walking through them each morning. They are doing an outstanding job adapting to this new routine, and we are so thankful for our students and families who continue to show flexibility and support as we prioritize campus safety.
We have also launched our “We Do Hard Things” tradition each Friday. This celebration serves as a powerful reminder of the grit, perseverance, and determination it takes to reach our goals. It has been inspiring to see students and staff nominate one another and celebrate the hard work happening across our campus.
As you review this newsletter, please take time to carefully read each section, as it contains important information and updates to help us stay aligned as a school community.
Together, we are building a strong foundation for a year filled with growth, learning, and success.

🚗 Valet Dismissal Reminder
We know that dismissal time can feel busy and that everyone has places to be; however, it’s important that we all work together to keep the process safe and fair for every family. Our campus has two established valet lines based on grade level, and we ask that all families follow these procedures.
Recently, we have noticed some drivers attempting to cut others off at the four-way stop or driving around and inserting their vehicles further up in line. This not only causes frustration but also creates a serious safety concern for students, staff, and other drivers.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to ensure dismissal runs smoothly for everyone. If you have any questions or need further guidance on valet dismissal, please don’t hesitate to contact the front office.
⏰ Late Arrival Procedures
Our tardy bell rings at 7:25 a.m., and we ask for your partnership in ensuring students arrive on time each morning. Being punctual helps set the tone for a successful day of learning and minimizes disruptions for the entire class.
If your child arrives after 7:25, an adult must escort them to the front office and sign them in. For safety reasons, students cannot be dropped off outside after the tardy bell, as staff are no longer on duty to monitor the area.
We truly appreciate your support in helping us maintain a safe environment for all of our Mountain Lions. Thank you for making punctuality and safety a priority!
A Note from the Counselors
Dear Mountain View families,
It has been a great start to the 2025-26 school year!! While there have been some changes, we have all come through them with grace and understanding. We will continue to use Capturing Kids Hearts again this year to further deepen our commitment to building those trusting relationships with each other. The character trait for the month of September is Empathy, which is to understand and feel the heart of another, and it is the perfect one to start the year off with since we all must get used to being in the school environment again. Attached you will find the September CKH newsletter to get you reacquainted with as we continue our journey this year.
Thank you for all your support.

Attendance
Regular attendance is an important part of your child’s success at school. Being present each day helps students build strong relationships, stay engaged in learning, and make steady academic progress. We also understand there are times when students may be ill, and their health must come first. If your child is absent, please be sure to provide a note to the front office or email it directly to mves.attendance@killeenisd.org so we can update their attendance record. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure our Mountain Lions are in school, learning, and growing every day!
