Welcome to the start of a fantastic school year! Eagan High School is proud to be in our second year of implementing the BARR (Building Assets, Reducing Risks) framework—a nationally recognized, evidence-based model centered on student strengths, strong relationships, and collaborative data to support every student academically, socially, and emotionally.

What is the BARR Model? What is the BARR Model?

BARR breaks down barriers to learning by using real-time data with teacher collaboration. By allowing student cohorts to have a dedicated interdisciplinary teacher team, including counselors and administrators, we ensure no student is invisible and every Wildcat receives personalized support. This includes:

  • Strengths-Based Approach: Focuses on celebrating individual student talents and assets rather than just addressing challenges.

  • Dedicated Educator Teams: Core subjects teachers (English, Social Studies and Science) meet weekly to coordinate academic support and celebrate growth of students.

  • I-Times: Weekly interactive sessions foster social-emotional growth through community, resilience, communication, and peer leadership.

  • Family Engagement: Keeps parents and guardians connected as essential partners in student success.

Through the power of relationships and data, BARR creates a culture where every student feels seen, valued, and equipped to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

  • Transitions: Helps students adapt to high school expectations and culture.

  • Proactive Interventions: Identifies academic or personal hurdles early to deliver tailored classroom strategies.

  • Connections: Builds meaningful bonds between students, teachers, and school resources.
