Hello MES Families!

I hope summertime is treating you well and that lots of special family memories are being made! I am so excited to send out my first newsletter communication for the 24-25 school year! I will be sending out a newsletter about every other week throughout the school year to keep you all up to date on the building events and happenings.

Welcome to those that are new to Madeira Elementary, we are really looking forward to a year filled with learning and fun for all! I have outlined some pieces of information to help you get prepared and have a smooth start to the year.

Upcoming Events and Important Dates

August 2nd: Class Lists Posted

August 14th: First Day of School Grades 1-5

August 14-16: Kindergarten Phase In Days

August 19: First full day for all Kindergarten

August 19th: 2nd and 3rd Grade Meet the Teacher Night

August 20th: Kdg and 1st Grade Meet the Teacher Night

August 21st: 4th and 5th Grade Meet the Teacher Night

September 2nd: No School/Labor Day

September 14th: Changing Hands Sale

September 17th: Fall Pictures

September 27th: No School/Teacher In Service Day

October 2nd: Walk to School Day

October 15th and 16th: K-5 Conferences

October 17th: End of 1st Quarter, Early Release for Students

Class Lists will be posted outside near the main entrance to the elementary at 9am on Friday, August 2nd.

Open House is a time to come and drop off your school supplies in the classroom before the first day. This will also be a great time to check in to the main office if you need any support with the PikMyKid app, Free and Reduced Lunch Applications, Final Forms Registration, Attendance Procedures, etc.

Kindergarten Phase In Days are the first three days of school. Your kindergartener was assigned a phase in date and will come in just one of the three phase in days. Then the entire class will all start officially on Monday, August 19th.

Meet the Teacher Nights will all be run slightly different depending on the grade and more info will come your way as the dates get closer. This night is an opportunity for you to learn about your child's classroom, their teacher(s) and other activities and happenings around MES and Madeira.

School Supplies and Yearbooks

If you ordered a school supply kit through the PTO. These will be delivered to the school and put in your child's room for them for the first day.

If you did not order a kit the lists for each grade are on the website. They can be found here.

If you ordered a yearbook from last year, they will be sent home in the first few weeks of school.

Updates to the MES Staff

We have had some departures and some new additions to our MES team for this coming school year. I am really excited about the knowledge, experiences, and fresh perspectives we are welcoming to MES this year!

Erika Hernandez is our new administrative assistant in the front office. She is your go-to for all things attendance and them some.

Mimi Marcheschi is our new AM/PM Kindergarten teacher. Stacy Radu is shifting to a full day kindergarten role and Annie Ethier was hired to be Stacy's educational assistant in the room.

Jill Dunn is moving from a teaching role at MMS to be our kindergarten specials teacher at MES.

Emily Pruckno is a new third grade teacher who will be teaching all subject areas to her homeroom.

Mary DeWitt, former 1st grade teacher, is moving into a new role as our STEAM teacher.

Katie Dunn, our former STEAM teacher, will be moving into a 1st grade teacher role.

Mallory Lewis is our new intervention tutor and will provide intervention support to small groups of students.

Please be sure to give them the Madeira welcome they all deserve if you happen to meet any of them.

Final Forms and Transportation Information

ALL required forms need to be completed by August 1st are online at FinalForms.com. For those of you who have already updated your student's information, thank you! If you have questions, please reach out to Tammi Pape at 513-985-6080 or tpape@madeiracityschools.org.

If your child will be taking the bus to or from school it is crucial that your final forms are complete so they can be accounted for in the routing. You will be able to check your student's bus stop location, bus number(s), and pick-up/drop-off times closer to the start of school by going to the Madeira City Schools website and selecting the "Parent/Student" tab for the Transportation page. Please also make sure you "re-check" this information the night before the first day of school, as times will continue to be adjusted.
