Congratulations to our graduating seniors! See pictures of our graduation ceremony below. We are so proud of each of you! We look forward to seeing you make your place in the world!
We have 3.5 days of school left! Be sure to finish strong and complete all of your assignments and assessments for the year by Thursday, May 22nd at NOON. All high school courses have a final that counts either 10% or 25% of the course grade. It is VERY important that those tests/ projects are finished!

Congratulations Seniors
Congratulations to the class of 2025 who were presented their diplomas in our graduation ceremony last Thursday. Everyone looked great in their caps and gowns, and we were cheered on by the MCS School Board, Director of Schools Mike Winstead, and Assistant Director Amy Vagnier (who was also our keynote speaker). Their families joined us in honoring these students' accomplishments and took lots of great photos.
Algebra 1 Finals @ MVS
Algebra 1 students are required to come into MVS to complete their final assessment. They will test in the Academic Support Center on any day between May 12th to 21st. Note that students must have completed the Practice Exam before coming in to test. The test is approximately 90 minutes long. The ASC opens at 11:30 and closes at 3:00. To give your student enough time to complete the test, students should arrive before 1:30. Students can leave when they have finished the test.
Summer School: Grades 9-12
In high school, students must earn certain credits to graduate. To earn a credit for a course, a student must pass the class with a 60/D average or better. If the student fails the course with an average below 50, the entire course must be taken again, and some entire core courses can be retaken in summer school. If a student has an average between 50 and 60, then the student may have the option of taking an abbreviated core course during summer school, just focusing on the deficient standards, to recover the credit and receive a passing score of 60/D for the course. For more information on credit recovery, see here.
Thus, you can look at your student’s current averages and consider if he/she will be getting information about Summer School. Summer School for grades 9-12 will take place on-site at Maryville High School. Courses available at Summer School are only the core graduation requirements including English, math, science, and social studies. We will send out invitations for 9-12 summer school to the invited students early this week.
Procedure Reminders
Ready to Start Driving?
Students must request their 1010 Form before going to the DMV to receive their Learner’s Permit. Please call MVS or email Jennifer Davis. 1010 forms are given based on the previous 9 weeks' grades. If you are failing multiple classes, you are not eligible for a 1010 form until your grades are brought up to passing. The 1010 forms are good for 30 days during the school year.
Turning in Late Work?
If you are turning in any late work, be sure to always contact your teacher after submitting the assignment. Teachers are not notified when a student submits assignments after the due date, so they may not know you even turned something in.
Feeling Sick?
Please remember to email your teachers and the MVS front office any doctor's notes for appointments or illness. Each student has 10 "parent convenience" days that are considered excused with no note. Any absences beyond those 10 days without a medical or legal note will be marked unexcused.
Tempted to Use AI or the Internet to Plagiarize?
If a teacher wants your student to use AI to help with an assignment or writing, then he or she will let them know that when the assignment is made. Unless a teacher gives students permission to use AI for a specific assignment, students are not to use Artificial Intelligence sites or apps to help with MVS assignments. Work that is generated with the use of AI will be treated like plagiarism and will be graded as such. If this occurs, teachers may give students the option to come into MVS to rewrite an essay with paper and pencil or monitored technology.
