Sunday, November 1st All Call

Good evening MES families! This is Mrs. Propst with your weekly reminders. Don't forget to turn your clocks back today, Sunday, November 1st. Parents, first quarter report cards came home on Friday. Make sure you have checked for your child's report card. Please contact the homeroom teacher if you do not find a report card in the backpack. On Tuesday, November 3rd we will have Fall Picture Makeup Day. This week we will collect candy for the MES donation to Treats for Troops. Leftover Halloween Candy and donations can be made in the front lobby November 2nd through 6th. Looking ahead, we will have a Veteran's Day Program on November 10th at 8:30am and families are welcome to attend. Wednesday, November 11th will be a day off from school in recognition of Veteran's Day. On Friday, November 13th we will celebrate World Kindness Day by wearing cardigans like Mr. Rogers and spreading kindness throughout our building and community. During the week of November 16th - 20th, our MES PTO is holding a canned and nonperishable food drive. The goal is for our school to collect 1000 items to support our community. Families are welcome to join students during lunch on Tuesday, November 17th for the annual cafeteria Thanksgiving lunch. The cost for adults is $8.50. Families, please utilize our car pool line for morning drop off and afternoon pick-up. We need to maintain the safety of students and encourage you to use the carpool line rather than adding walkers to the group of students who live nearby. If you haven’t done so, please follow us on Facebook and sign up for the MES Remind Group. Have a great evening and we look forward to seeing everyone Monday morning.

Get involved at MES!

PTO is always looking for additional participants to help support them as they support our school. Please visit the PTO Facebook page to contact them. Here is the link to their page.

MES PTO at Camp Glenn.

If you are unsure if you are an approved volunteer, then please contact Mrs. Propst at christy.propst@carteretk12.org to verify. If you have attended training and completed the background check at another school within the last year of the new system being in place then you should be on the approved list already.

Please know you are welcome to attend field trips and school activities without the volunteer process, but being a volunteer will give you the opportunity to help with small groups during class, supervise small groups on field trips, etc.

Check out Lost & Found

I always try to keep Lost & Found under control. As a parent, I know these things do not come cheap. I make announcements a few times a week and try to remind everyone to collect their items. I will often share photos here or on Facebook of the items. You are also welcome to come in to the lobby to take a look and see if anything may belong to your child. I encourage you to put their names or initials on their belongings.

Get up and MOVE. Stay Active and Stay Healthy! Get up and MOVE. Stay Active and Stay Healthy!

Each month I share a movement challenge with staff, students and families. I just want to encourage everyone to get up and move. I used to go to Crossfit each day and try to beat my times in workouts and weights. I even competed in a few compeitions once upon a time. The older I got, the harder it was to make it to the gym each day. Busy schedules with my job and my own children. Now it is more about consistently moving and trying my best for my health.

Here is the challenge for the month. Modify to your liking, but give something a try. Do it for yourself and your family.
