A NOTE FROM MRS. B
Howdy, Bronco Family! Fall definitely has been in the air this week. I know we all are thankful for the cooler temperatures especially in the mornings. Let’s all hope our 100+ degree days are behind us until next summer even though it sounds like we will get close over the next few days.
The students have settled into a daily routine. The teachers have made any adjustments to best serve your child. Learning and experiences continue to happen each day at Burleson Elementary. This is also the time of the year that students may experience some frustrations. New concepts that may be more challenging are being introduced. Subjects get more difficult, and lessons become lengthier. The newness of the school year has worn off. But, don’t fret, we will ALL experience these growing pains together and push through to the other side. The teachers will continue to push and reassure the students that they can do it and be successful.
Remember, you can always find the latest Meadow ISD news on the MISD website and Facebook page, so go check them out! Also, check your kiddo’s backpack and folders for any important paper notes that may have gone home.
Don’t forget to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about what is going on in the classroom. We are always here to help.
It’s ALWAYS great to be a Bronco!
Mrs. B
¡Hola, familia Bronco!

MRS. ALANIZ - 2ND GRADE
These second graders are blowing this school year out of the water this far! I have had so much fun teaching this group and am so proud of everything they have already accomplished! They have become pros at identifying expository, narrative, and opinion writing and are working on becoming authors themselves. In math we are currently working on subtraction strategies, in science we are wrapping up matter, and in social studies we have just finished talking about communities. Their drive and determination has been paying off in AR, we are reading machines!
Just a few reminders...
Our next spelling test will be next Wednesday
Math fact quiz Friday
Sight Word quiz Friday
Please continue your child to read at home, the only way to get better at something is to practice and that includes reading!
Sra. Alaniz
Thank you for all you do.

MRS. McCORMICK - 3RD GRADE
3rd Grade ELAR
Reading/Writing
We are continuing to work on both reading and writing skills using our online program Lonestar Learning. I am seeing some progress with our text analysis strategy R.A.C.E. Ask your child to explain what that means! AR reading levels have been set and students have all had opportunities to check out books from the library. Please encourage your child to read EVERY evening, and also read with them/listen to them read to support their reading comprehension.
Spelling/Word Study
Spelling was better overall last week but remains a struggle for a few students. Please ensure your child is studying at home each evening. This week all 10 words will be tested. Please help your child to be successful by studying with them.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
Fiona McCormick
Fiona McCormick
MRS. HOUCHIN - 3RD GRADE

We are learning about solids, liquids and gasses by classifying objects as a solids (object with definite shape and volume, liquids (object with definite volume, but takes the shape of its container), and gasses (objects with no definite shape or volume).
Social Studies:
We are learning about important figures in the United States and how they helped shape their community.
BAYER - 4TH GRADE
4th Grade Homeroom and Social Studies
A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that the 4th graders have earned a suprise reward from the cafeteria! The 2nd and 4th graders were the first to memorize and correctly use their numbers on the keypad as they go through the line. I am so proud that the kids worked hard and actually did it at breakfast on the first day of school. On September 27, we will be making cupcakes with the second graders in the cafeteria. In preparation for this, the 4th graders will be writing a "How-To" paper describing the process of making the cupcakes.
4th & 5th ELAR
We have been working very hard on our AR Reading. Many of the kids have already read and taken tests on at least 3 books. They have been doing an amazing job at reading their books every night. Two students, Hannah Houchin and Urben Villalpando, have made it to the 5 point club! Thank you for encouraging your child and helping us achieve our reading goals.
MS. GAMEZ -5TH GRADE
4th & 5th Grade Math
-In 4th grade, we started working on multi-digit adding and subtraction. We are estimating, adding and subtraction across zeros, and then we will be adding and subtracting decimal numbers.
-In 5th grade, we are slowly going through long division. Last year, we divided with a one-digit divisor, and this we are dividing with a two-digit divisor. It has been a long journey because it is difficult to decide how many times are divisor can divide the number. This when knowing our multiplication math facts is important.
-Please, make sure your child goes over multiplication math facts every night for a few minutes.
Thank you for your support,
Stacy Gamez
Stacy Gamez.
MRS. GUZMAN - 5TH GRADE
4th Science:
We finished properties of matter this week. They have spent so much time talking about relative density, state of matter, and all things physical properties. I have so enjoyed seeing how excited they get for the littlest science activities!
5th Grade Science:
We are still working our way through properties of matter. They have loved exploring new phenomenon with me! This we discussed "How can we figure out a material just by its physical properties?" They have loved the discovery!
Caitlyn Guzman
4/5th Grade Science & Social Studies
4ta Ciencia:
