November Edition November Edition

Dear Silverhawk Families,

November is here, and we have so much to be thankful for at The Traditional Academy at Bellair! As we continue through the second quarter, we are incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication, and growth our Silverhawks continue to demonstrate. November is a wonderful time to reflect on the importance of gratitude, kindness, and community. We are especially thankful for our amazing students, dedicated staff, and supportive families who make our school such a special place to learn and grow!

Veterans Breakfast & Assembly – November 10 at 8:00

We are honored to recognize and celebrate the brave men and women who have served our country! On Tuesday, November 10, we will host our Veterans Breakfast & Assembly to show our appreciation for their service and sacrifice. This is a wonderful opportunity for our Silverhawks to learn about the importance of honoring those who have protected our freedoms.

Wednesday, November 11, is Veterans Day, and there will be NO SCHOOL. We encourage our families to take a moment to thank a veteran for their service!

Dress Out of Uniform for $1 – November 19

It's time for a little fun! On Thursday, November 19, students may dress out of uniform for just $1! This is a great opportunity for our Silverhawks to show off their personal style while enjoying a fun school day. Please remember that all clothing must be school-appropriate.

Get ready to gobble, wobble, and trot! Our annual Silverhawk Turkey Trot will take place on Friday, November 20, at 9:15 AM! We are excited to bring our school community together for a morning of fitness, fun, and Silverhawk spirit! Families are welcome and encouraged to join us! Whether you're running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, we would love to see you there.

Thanksgiving Break – November 23–27

There will be NO SCHOOL November 23–27 for Thanksgiving Break! We hope our Silverhawk families enjoy this special time to relax, recharge, and create wonderful memories together. Thanksgiving is a perfect opportunity to reflect on all the things we are grateful for and to share kindness with others. We look forward to welcoming our students back on Monday, November 30, ready to finish the semester strong!

Preschool Updates Preschool Updates

Hello Preschool Families,

We just wrapped up our unit on Community Helpers. We learned about many different people in our community who help keep us safe, healthy, and help us learn. We are enjoying some fall weather and activities as well.

Next we will do a small unit on farms, studying food grown on farms and the animals raised on them. This is the perfect time to announce that our class has adopted a calf again this year! Her name is Bonnie, and she lives on Stotz Dairy in Buckeye, AZ. She is a holstein calf, born on August 19th, weighing 85 pounds, measuring 29 inches tall. Please take a moment to vote for Bonnie between November 2-4th for America's favorite calf at discoverdairy.com/vote. The calf with the most votes will receive a special care package. We will continue to update you with Bonnie's pictures and stats on her growth over the next six months.

The second-grade PETS program focuses on critical thinking, problem-solving, and logic puzzles using Elimination Grids, with upcoming chapter book studies and the Sybil the Scientist unit. Students in grades 3–6 recently completed a character perspective book study and created pumpkin character displays or imaginative book cover posters, practicing creativity, presentation, and public speaking skills. Photos show students working collaboratively, presenting projects, and displaying their creations. A reminder encourages families to support nightly reading and participation in Reading Bingo. The headline reads, “Raise Your Hand If You Have Good Attendance!” The flyer emphasizes that arriving on time and attending school every day helps students inspire, learn, and lead. It warns that missing an average of two days per month could lead to chronic absenteeism. Three key messages encourage students to stay connected with friends, teachers, and their own voices through regular attendance, classroom participation, and positive relationships.

PBIS Acronym S.O.A.R. PBIS Acronym S.O.A.R.

What is PBIS?

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. It also improves teacher health and wellbeing. It is a way to create positive, predictable, equitable and safe learning environments where everyone thrives. We use ‘students’ to refer to all children and youth in any educational or therapeutic setting (e.g., K-12 school, early childhood program, treatment program, juvenile justice program). Learn more about PBIS in schools, classrooms, early childhood programs and juvenile justice programs on those topic pages.

Our new PBIS Acronym is S.O.A.R. Silverhawks show Safety, Ownership, Achievement and Respect. Please help us to instill these behaviors at home, so we can all "S.O.A.R. to #Extraordinary Heights Together!"
