Hello Hoover
Week of August 24, 2026
Principal's Updates
Week 2 is in the Books!
We have had a fantastic second week of school at Hoover Middle School! Students are settling into routines, building connections, and engaging in meaningful learning experiences across campus. We are proud of the positive energy and commitment our students are showing each day.
As we continue through the school year, we encourage all families to stay connected and engaged with our school community by reading our weekly newsletter. The newsletter is one of the best ways to stay informed about important dates, upcoming events, student opportunities, and school updates. A strong partnership between home and school helps ensure student success, and staying informed is an important part of that partnership.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to another great week of learning and growth at Hoover Middle School!

These guidelines help ensure that all students can enjoy our events in a safe, positive, and responsible environment.

Attendance Matters
Week 3 is here! Fun Fact: Students who attend school regularly in the first few weeks of the year are more likely to build strong routines, stay connected with their classmates, and be ready to learn every day!
Every day counts, and it’s never too early to establish great attendance habits. Thank you for helping your child Start Strong with Attendance by arriving on time and ready to learn. Be on time; be present, be ready to succeed.

IB Learner Profile of the month BINGO
This version of BINGO is aligned to the International Baccalaureate's MYP to encourage discussions about the IB Learner Profile and what might an IB learner look like. Every month we will post a BINGO card with the IB Learner Profile of the month attributes (like being-risk takers, thinkers, or caring). Instead of numbers, the grid squares feature character traits, real-world actions, or transdisciplinary themes.
How It Works
- Content: Squares contain descriptions of behaviors or scenarios tied to IB goals.
- Gameplay: Students can complete a choice board of tasks on the card to get a "bingo" line. The IB BINGO card of the month will be posted on the IB Bulletin Board located in the B wing.
- Goal: To help students connect core values, social-emotional learning, and academic concepts through active participation.
PBIS Hawk Store
Support Our PBIS Store!
Our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Hawk Store opens every Friday during lunch, giving students the opportunity to redeem the points they have earned for exciting, high-interest items and rewards!
Students earn PBIS points by consistently demonstrating the attributes of the MYP/IB Learner Profile, such as being caring, principled, open-minded, knowledgeable, and reflective. These positive behaviors help create a supportive and successful school community.
We are seeking donations to help keep our PBIS Store stocked with items students love. Popular donations include snacks, school supplies, small toys, gift cards, fidgets, sports items, and other age-appropriate incentives.
Your generosity helps motivate students to make positive choices and celebrate their growth as learners and leaders. Thank you for supporting our students and helping make our PBIS program a success!

Sources of Strength Club
This program is a best practice youth suicide prevention program designed to harness the power of peer social networks to change unhealthy norms and culture, ultimately preventing suicide, bullying, and substance abuse. The mission of Sources of Strength is to prevent suicide by increasing help seeking behaviors and promoting connections between peers and caring adults.
Sources of Strength move beyond a singular focus on risk factors by utilizing an upstream approach for youth suicide prevention. This upstream model strengthens multiple sources of support (protective factors) around young individuals so that when times get hard, they have strengths to rely on.

Hoover Mentoring Program
Meet our FIT's Intern
Miranda is a Florida Institute of Technology student completing her doctorate in clinical psychology and will be joining us at Herbert Hoover Middle School this year. Miranda is passionate about using creative and interactive approaches to help students feel supported and also strengthen their coping skills, confidence, and overall well-being. In her free time, Miranda enjoys spending time with her three animals, doing yoga, and going to Disney World.
Miranda will be available for one-to-one counseling for students; if families are interested in their child receiving services, please contact Ms. Watson at Watson.GinellyL@Brevardschools.org. Miranda will also be assisting with the Sources of Strength group and helping to implement lunch bunches for students to learn about applicable mental health topics! She is excited to be joining us!
