Nederland Middle-Senior HS Community,

Next week is the state of Colorado assessment for high school students and the Science CMAS assessment for 8th graders. Our teachers have been teaching the standards that are assessed on the SAT/PSAT and Science CMAS test all year. Our students are prepared to do their best.

Successful performance on the high school SAT test will provide our junior students with what they need for college applications and it will meet a state graduation requirement (an extra measure to show proficiency in math and language arts). The PSAT will give students a chance to practice and to determine what we need to do to support them in the next few years academically. The tests are in the morning starting at 9:30 and end at approximately 12:30. After the tests juniors and seniors may leave campus, grades 8, 9, 10 will be excused with parent permission. It is important for students to not have their cell phones and smart-watches in the testing rooms while taking the assessment.

Please see the schedule below.

Have a great weekend,

Gavan

BVSD Bike Week: Time to Take to Two Wheels!

All Are Welcome!

Students, parents, and staff are invited to join others across the BVSD to walk and roll to school. As part of BVSD Bike Week (April 17-20, 2023), the 15th annual BVSD Bike to School Day is Wednesday, April 19, 2023. With warmer days, now is a great time to get back to bicycling and other active travel choices to school.

Active People, Healthy Planet

We promote active travel to school in support of physical activity and environmental sustainability. The event brings together the school community of all ages and all roles in support of active people and a healthier planet, not to mention the simple joy of being outdoors with one’s family and friends.

For information and to find resources, please visit this BVSD web page or email saferoutes@bvsd.org.

Resources

To help prepare for active travel to school, the following information may be helpful:

  • Safe bicycling tip sheet (National Center for Safe Routes to School)

  • Consult your school travel map for convenient routes near school

  • Map route to school with Google Maps and ride it ahead of time

  • Bring on the ebikes. A BVSD Health Services update and video offer key safety reminders.
