Principal's Message
Dear Center School Families,
Thank you for all of your patience over the last two weeks as we navigated the beginning of the year challenges. As we continue moving into the school year we are optimistic that we will see improvements with bus times. As a reminder, please ensure you have completed the returning student registration form that was emailed and logged your child's default plan on PickUp Patrol.
Within the building, the students are settling in well and we are off to a wonderful start of the year. We held our first All School Meeting on Friday where we reviewed school wide expectations. As we approach expectations with students, our staff is working hard to use common language based off of our school wide expectations. We ask that you take a few minutes to review these expectations with your child so we have a common message for our students.
Another aspect of getting the school year started is beginning our school council work. We have one open seat currently on our school council. School councils operate at the school level and are co-chaired by the principal. Members include teachers, parents, community representatives, and, at secondary schools, students. Councils develop annual school improvement plans addressing curriculum, instruction, assessment, student support, professional development, parent involvement, and safety. They provide input on school priorities and resources, foster stronger community connections, and promote equity and high expectations for all students. Councils do not oversee personnel or collective bargaining, but they give families and stakeholders a meaningful role in school planning. If you are interested in serving please email Kcoppinger@nrsd.net. If more than one individual is interested, we will hold an election via the PTO.
I am looking forward to connecting with many families at our Back to School Night on Wednesday and want to reiterate how important your partnership is as we dive into this school year. Have a wonderful week ahead!
In partnership,
Kerryann Coppinger
Principal
