🌟 Week 9 @ TAPS – Let’s Go! 🌟

We’re charging into Week 9 with big events, awesome opportunities, and loads of TAPS spirit! From guest speakers to bowls tournaments, it’s a week that shows just how much happens when our school whānau comes together.

📅 What’s On:

  • Mon 8 Sept – Kaea leads us at 12.30pm, followed by Kapa Haka with Matua Rawiri. Mr Bertrand is away with NZPF mahi in Wellington Monday - Wednesday.

  • Tues 9 Sept – It’s all about voice and mana with House Waiata Challenge practice at lunchtime! TMAK host a guest speaker, and we’ve got a special Antarctica speaker in too.

  • Wed 10 Sept – Bowls training, more House Waiata practice, and a Junior sausage sizzle + ice block fundraiser (yum!).

  • Thurs 11 Sept – Year 7/8 Tech at Te Aroha College.

  • Fri 12 Sept – The Bowls Tournament takes over the hall all day. Bible in Schools/Values Programme.

💥 The Vibe:
This week is a mix of mahi and magic — our kids are stepping up in challenges, showcasing their voices, and making the most of every opportunity. Fundraisers, competitions, and guest speakers mean there’s something for everyone to get excited about.

💚 The Pulse at TAPS – Week 8

Our TAPS whānau are heading into Week 9 with plenty of good vibes and positivity! 🌟

  • Wellbeing is on the rise – 89 of our tamariki told us they are feeling great, with another 29 saying they feel positive. That’s 118 kids in the green!

  • Feeling safe and valued jumped to 8.6/10, showing that our students know they are cared for.

  • Learning confidence has climbed too, up to 8.8/10, as students get stuck in and show real perseverance.

  • Identity and culture have also lifted to 8.1/10, a sign that more students are proud of who they are and where they come from.

🙏 Gratitude was buzzing this week with 146 shout-outs. The top thanks went to whānau, friends, good health, and home — the things that matter most. Kindness and humour were big themes too, proving our tamariki love looking out for each other and having fun along the way.

📈 Across all measures, TAPS is sitting above the NZ average. That’s a real credit to our kids, our staff, and you, our parents and whānau.

➡️ The message from this week’s Pulse is clear: when we nurture belonging, gratitude, and care, our kids thrive. 🌱💫

📅 Attendance Update – Week 8

Kia ora whānau,

This week we had 158 students (65%) regularly attending school every day. That’s two out of every three tamariki showing up consistently – awesome mahi!

💡 Bright spots

  • Some classes are shining with really strong attendance – Room 7 is leading the way at 91%, with Rooms 5, 6, and 10 also above 75%.

  • Our Pacific learners have one of the strongest attendance patterns in the school.

  • Senior students (Y4–Y8) are holding steady overall.

🌟 Why it matters
Every day counts. Regular attendance makes a huge difference in learning, friendships, and confidence. The more time our tamariki are in class, the more connected and successful they’ll be.

Ngā mihi for everything you do to help your children get to school each day – it really does make the difference. Let’s keep aiming higher together!
