Winter Hill Wildcat Weekly
March 6, 2026
Principal's Message
Hello Winter Hill,
It was another great week at Winter Hill. The snow is starting to melt and the temperatures are getting warmer! Even with the snow last night, we were able to go outside for recess today. Next week, we look forward to an extra hour of daylight (don't forget to set your clocks ahead an hour) and much warmer temperatures. Thank you to our entire community for working together through the challenges that the snow brought--spring is just around the corner! Have a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
Principal Gosselin
Informative Walk and Talks
The Winter Hill and Brown School communities are invited to join project Perkins Eastman for an informative Walk & Talk event at the former Winter Hill School building. Come share your perspectives and help shape the design of Somerville’s next new school building!
Members of the school building project team will lead a roughly hour-long walk around the Sycamore school site during which community members will be invited to share both their preferences and concerns about the new school. Potential topics of discussion include:
- Outdoor space
- Traffic + pick-up/drop-off
- Historic uses of the space that we should seek to retain
- Environment and sustainability priorities
The information and feedback gathered will be used by the City’s project team and architects to help inform preliminary design efforts and work moving forward.
Event details:
- Date #2 – Saturday, March 7, 10 to 11 a.m.
Please meet the group outside nearby Brianna’s Cafe (393 Medford Street). The Walk & Talk will begin promptly at 10am. Please arrive early if you’d like to grab coffee or a snack prior.
Interpretation is available by request. Please contact us at languageaccess@somervillema.gov or call 311 (617-666-3311).

Message from Community Schools and OST
Good afternoon, After Hours Wildcats!
I hope you are all having an amazing day so far & enjoying the weather. I wanted to share some important upcoming dates with you all. I apologize in advance for the longer email.
2026 Adventure Summer Program Registration: Registration will take place March 31 through April 3.
Applications for Afterschool 2026-2027
Applications for the 2026-2027 Community Schools Afterschool program open on March 17th. Please use this link to apply https://www.ezchildtrack.com/csafterschool/parent/. Community Schools staff are multilingual and are ready to offer assistance in English, Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole. Please call 617-625-6600 x6970 with any questions, or to make an appointment. If you need assistance registering, please let your Site Director know before March 17th.
It is likely that the EZChildTrack portal will take a few moments to open on March 17th. Please refresh the page for five minutes before contacting your Site Director with concerns around applying.
Remember that enrollment is NOT first come/first served so as long as you submit your application before March 27th, your application will be considered in the weighted lottery.
Enrollment in Afterschool 2026-2027
Once you have submitted your application, you will receive an email that your application was received. This does NOT mean that you have an afterschool spot. There will be a second email later if your child is successfully enrolled in the afterschool program. Applying is you saying you want a spot, enrollment is us saying you got a spot. Enrollment emails will go out mid-May.
Afterschool seats are assigned based on availability at sites and through a weighted enrollment system. Enrollment is NOT first come, first served but rather is a weighted lottery. It is our goal to accommodate as many families as our staffing safely allows.
If you choose to transfer schools once afterschool enrollment has passed, you are not guaranteed an afterschool spot at the new school. In addition, if your circumstances change and you no longer require afterschool care, please fill out the attached Change/Cancel Form as soon as you know.
Fee/Tuition Rates
There is a $80 non-refundable registration fee per family that is due at the time of registration. This fee will be waived for families applying for financial assistance; check the appropriate box during registration.
