Keep Enjoying Summer!
It’s hard to believe, but we're only about five weeks away from the start of the 2026-27 school year! While we hope you're enjoying every bit of summer, our staff has been busy preparing for another great year at West High School.
We can't wait to welcome back our returning students and meet the newest members of our Scarlet community. The start of a new school year always brings excitement, new opportunities, and a chance to grow together as a school community.
Throughout the school year, this newsletter will keep you informed with important dates, reminders, registration information, construction updates, and everything you need for a smooth start to the school year.
Enjoy these last few weeks of summer, and we'll see you soon. Go Scarlets!
When Can I See My Schedule?
Students will be able to see their schedule in Infinite Campus beginning Monday, August 24.
Any request to a student's schedule must be done by completing the google form, which will be shared when schedules go live. If you email your school counselor directly your request will not be processed. In making requests, please remember a few important details. Since the master schedule has been built with all students’ requests in mind, schedule changes are discouraged and will only be approved, pending the availability of space, for the following reasons:
The following are regarded as justifiable reasons for schedule change requests:
1. To correct computer errors.
2. To correct graduation deficiencies.
3. To make necessary changes due to summer school attendance.
4. To resolve scheduling conflicts.
5. To provide for placement in Special Ed. classes or to implement a student's I.E.P.
Schedules WILL NOT be adjusted for the following reasons:
1. Preference for a different teacher.
2. Preference for a different period or term.
3. Preference to be with friends in class.
Kick-Off Days
Back to School Kickoff Days will be August 26 and 27. Students and families are asked to park in the front lot and enter through door 24.
Please proceed to the 3rd Floor Media Center for your student ID, bus pass, school picture, and chromebook checkout. Seniors who have purchased a parking pass can pick it up in the Media Center.
Student picture information is available with the SPX School Portrait Flyer. Again this year you are able to pre-order your school photos prior to Back to School Kickoff Days or use the SPX Order Form. Along with Kickoff Days, pictures will also be available during Open House Night on September 2nd. Picture retakes are scheduled for Tuesday, September 15th.
To help balance the flow of device checkout lines, we strongly encourage students to pick up their device during their scheduled time in the document linked below. If you are not able to attend during your scheduled time, please come when you can and we will do our best to fit you in.

Senior Parking Permits
Again this year we will be using Affinity for seniors to purchase a parking pass. Affinity is the registration system that is used for activities, and if you have a current Affinity account you created this summer you will use the same account to purchase your parking pass. Seniors can purchase a parking pass starting today through 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 10. Please access Affinity and Instructions to create an account and connect your student if assistance is needed.
Junior Parking Lottery
Juniors interested in purchasing a parking permit should complete the Junior Parking Permit Lottery form by 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 10. The lottery for junior parking permits will take place on Friday, September 11.
Work/Study Release Form
Juniors and seniors seeking a work/study release period will need to complete the Work/Study Release Form. School staff will review the request and when approved will work with school counselors to incorporate it into the student’s schedule.
What If I Can't Make It To Kick-Off Days?
Everything available to students on kick-off days will also be available to students at our Open House on September 2nd from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. If you are unable to attend kick-off days and open house, please call the office and we can arrange a time for you to pick up the materials you need. Taking school pictures will not be available at other times, but students will be able to have their picture taken on the picture make-up/retake day on September 29th.
School Supplies
Your school supply list will depend on the classes you have. Teachers will provide that information the first week of school. To start the year, it is good practice to bring a notebook, some folders, and pens/pencils. For math courses, it is recommended that a student have a TI-84 calculator.

Only busses will access the back parking lot, and that lot will be staff parking only.
We plan to be in the new gym area during the second week of school, September 14th. Construction will continue throughout this school year transitioning the old gym to band, choir, orchestra and a fitness center. The former office area is being transformed into new art rooms.
The front parking lot will be completed on August 24th and the back parking lot will be completed on August 28th.
