PSO General Meeting: Monday 11/13/23
Please join us for our next PSO General meeting on Monday, November 13th at 6:00 pm in the Art Rutkin Elementary Library.
***This month we welcome Traci Rose, Director of Community Relations, Darin Barnard, Director of Operations, Jarvis Gomes, Operations Administrator, and Lisa Burton, Community Relations Manager who will be visiting from the Tigard Tualatin School District. They will be sharing updates regarding school boundary lines and the upcoming levy and bond. Join us to learn more about this important information! We will also review and vote to approve the PSO budget. See the budget attachment below.***

Proposed Budget Summary:
PSO Yearbook Chair
*** We are actively seeking a Yearbook Chair to work with a representative from Dorian Studio. This person will coordinate with the PSO and Dorian Studio to help produce the yearbook and facilitate sales to Art Rutkin Families. Please email president@artrutkinpso.org if you're interested!***
We are also still looking to fill many chair positions, see the list of openings here. If you are interested in any form of volunteering, please complete the survey.
Winter Movie Night: 12/8
The PSO is seeking volunteers to help to fill the following roles to make the Winter Movie Night a success! Please email PSO President, Shannon Crist at president@artrutkinpso.org if you are interested in any of the following:
Technical Coordinator:
- Secure equipment needed to show the movie
- Test the equipment before the event
- Prepare the equipment the night of and start the movie/troubleshoot issues
- Clean up/secure the technical equipment post movie
Concessions:
- Outline the concessions menu and pricing (fundraiser)
- Purchase or solicit donations of food and beverages, paper goods, and related supplies
- Establish a pre-order process to order and pay for items ahead of time
- Establish a pick up process on the night of the event for pre-orders
Communications:
- Creating a communications/marketing plan
- Marketing Family Movie Night through flyers, newsletters, websites, and social media.
- Printing posters and menus to be displayed on the night of the event
- Securing easels/sign holders for night of display
Pre-Show Activity/Craft:
- Help plan a simple craft or activity to fill time prior to the showtime
- Help prepare materials and set up the space
- Assist students as needed with the craft
Family Partnership Days Volunteer Thank You!
Thank you to everyone who donated snacks, treats, and drinks for our staff to enjoy during the Family Partnership Days. The turnout was great and the staff will be able to enjoy the snacks in the coming weeks, too.
The PSO also wanted to give a big thank you to Sultan the Flaming Tandoor, a Sherwood restaurant owned by Chelsea and Adnan Ali, an Art Rutkin family. They generously provided a delicious catered lunch for all staff members to enjoy during the Family Partnership meetings on Thursday, October 26th. Art Rutkin Winter Book Fair: 12/4-12/8
The PSO is excited to announce that Art Rutkin Elementary will be hosting its first ever Book Fair! It's going to be EPIC! More Books. More Choices. More Fun! The Scholastic Book Fair is where your readers get to choose. They can be true to "themshelves" at our Book Fair! Plus, every purchase benefits our school. Join us December 4th-8th for some holiday shopping or treat yourself to some fun books! Stay tuned for more details as the date gets closer!
Winter Movie Night: 12/8/23
We are sending off the final day of the Book Fair in style. Friday December 8th, come shop at the Scholastic Book Fair and stay for the Winter Movie Night! We will be showing Frozen to celebrate the Winter season. Check out additional event details below:
- Free Entry
- Showing will happen in the Art Rutkin Commons area
- Concessions available for purchase. Details for Pizza Pre-orders coming soon.
- Winter themed craft available prior to showtime
- During the event families can wear pajamas or comfy, cozy clothes
- Bring blankets or pillows for comfort
- This is not a drop off event, children must have a supervising adult present
- Bring you Friends and Family! RSVP Registration details coming soon.
November:
Poinsettia Vouchers from Al's Garden & Home Center
- Poinsettia vouchers are $18 per plant.
- Voucher sales are available through Nov. 10th, you can purchase vouchers here.
- Vouchers will be available for pick up at dismissal on Wednesday November 15th and Thursday November 16th from 2:20-3:30. Look for the PSO booth set up in front of the school.
- Unclaimed vouchers will go home in your student's Friday Folder on November 17th
- Vouchers can be redeemed at Al's Home and Garden Center November 17th through December 6th
- You may pick from four different varieties of Poinsettias (Red, White, Pink, and Jingle Bells)

Holiday Shopping at Piccolo Mondo Toys
Who doesn’t love shopping for great toys? Please join us at Piccolo Mondo Toys, a locally owned toy store for a holiday school fundraiser.
- Shop November 12th-17th and mention Art Rutkin Elementary and 15% of your purchase will be donated to the school.
- Hours: 10:00am- 5:00pm Sunday and 9:30am-7:00pm Monday to Friday
- Family and friends who are unable to attend the event can also receive the 15% donation by calling in orders during the promotion at 503-579-8100.
- Due to the 15% donation, coupons and special prices/offers will not be accepted during this event.
