Message from the Principal

We have finally made it to Fall! I love this time of year, the perfect time for sweatshirts, football, football, and chili! Hopefully you were all able to enjoy the cooler temps these past few days. As the temps start to change we will see more and more jackets, sweatshirts etc. worn at school. This also means they tend to get left behind and end up in the lost and found. Please remind your child to keep track of their clothes and always check the lost and found table if they have misplaced something.

Our first Monthly Celebration will be on Friday for students who have earned it. We will be having a volleyball tournament, there will be a movie room option for students who would prefer not to play volleyball. Each month we will switch up the activity. We look forward to rewarding our students for their hard work academically and behaviorally.

Continue talking to your children about being kind, treating each other with kindness and encouraging and including their peers.

Connecting with the Counselor Connecting with the Counselor

5th Grade

This week, we finished "The Invisible Boy." Each class had a really good discussion about empathy as we talked about each of the different situations that the main character Brian felt invisible. The story had a happy ending where one friend made Brian feel included. I told the students that one of my favorite things about this book was that a lot of the situations that Brian finds himself in where he feels invisible are all situations that THEY, themselves, have probably been in, or will be in by the end of the year.

Ask your student...

1. Have your student summarize the story and make sure they tell you the cool thing that happens to the illustrations as you read the book.

2. Ask your student if there was ever a time that they felt invisible.

6th, 7th, 8th Grade

This week, students focused on the Executive Functioning skill of Time Management. Students talked about how important Time Management is and how productive Time Management skills can lead to productivity and achieving their goals.

Ask your student...

1. What did you learn about Time Management this week?

2. Have a discussion with your student about what YOU do to manage your own time. How do you reduce distractions?
