Dear Northwood Community,

I hope you are enjoying the long weekend as we honor and celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. January is always a busy and exciting month at our school, and we are off to a wonderful start!

Last week, our Family Trivia Night was a huge success and filled with lots of laughter and fun. Thank you to Kaela Momtselidze for organizing such a great event and to all of the families who joined us.

This week brings several important events. Our Spelling Bee will take place on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. As a reminder, all visitors must present a valid ID and obtain a visitor’s badge upon arrival. Please arrive early if you plan on coming to watch your child participate. Invitations for those participating were sent out before the winter break.

On Thursday, we are excited to host Kinder Round-Up for our prospective students and families. Don't forget to share with friends or family who have a kindergarten aged student. We will wrap up the week with Donuts with Grownups on Friday morning, a favorite event for our students and families.

Looking ahead, Monday, January 26, marks the 100th day of school! This milestone is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate all that our students have learned so far this year—and the fact that we are already more than halfway through the school year.

Please read below for all the details on these events and other upcoming activities. Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we move through this busy and joyful season of learning.

With warm regards,

Mrs. Harper

School Lunch

We have a wonderful cafeteria that serves breakfast and lunch daily. This year meals are provided at no charge to ALL students as part of the Community Eligibility Program. Click THIS link to watch a short video about what is included on the school breakfast or lunch tray and what items are an extra charge.

If your child wants "extras" beyond the regular school tray, you need to add money to their cafeteria account by visiting schoolcafe.com or sending in a check or cash.

  1. All visitors to campus will be required to present an ID and receive a visitors badge through the Raptor system in order to come into the building during the school day. This includes on the first day of school. We understand that this may not be convenient, but it is necessary in order to ensure safety.

School Absences

Our goal is for all of our students to maintain outstanding attendance (at least 95%).

The best way to learn is by being present at school and on time, ready to learn at 7:25 am every day! If your child needs to be absent due to illness, please be sure to send a note to school the day they return explaining the reason for the absence. Absences for illness and medical appointments will be excused with a written note. A student can have no more than 18 absences in order to recieve credit for the course/grade level.
