Hello CELC & MVLA Families,

I hope you all enjoy the 3 day weekend. Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the ultimate sacrifices men and women has taken to serve and protect our country. We are truly the land of the free because of the brave!

It's the final countdown to promoting our kindergarteners. We only have 8 days of school left. We are looking forward to "launching" them into 1st grade. Please see the promotion days and times below.

Important Updates and Information:

We are in need of water bottle donations. If anyone could donate a couple of cases to get us through the year, that would be fantastic. Students have been forgetting a bottle from home. Thank you!
Attention EAK ,TK , and incoming parents- We need PTA board members for the 2022-23 school year. In order to have a PTA, we need a president, secretary, and treasurer. I believe we have an incoming parent interested in treasurer. Please call or stop by the office to let us know if you are interested in helping. 619-659-8250

If your student's teacher hasn't already starting to collect Chromebooks, they will begin on Tuesday, May 31. Please make sure that your student brings in the Chromebook and the charge cord. If your student put stickers or labels on the computer, please remove them.

Our next district-wide kindness dress up day is this Wednesday, June 1st. "Words That Hurt Can't be Taken Back"-Wear your shirt or other clothing item backwards.
Does your student eat breakfast at school? If so, please make sure that they get to school at 8:45 am to have enough time to finish eating. Students need to be in class ready to learn by 9:05 am.
Afternoon gates open at 2:40 pm (M/T/TH/F) for 2:50 pm dismissal and 1:30 pm (W) for 1:35 pm dismissal. Teachers will open their doors when they are ready to release. Please wait away from the front of the class to reduce the disruption of learning. Release times are 2:50 pm (M/T/TH/F) and 1:35 pm (W).
Call Mary Barkley, our Office Clerk, if you have any questions about contract work. Completing work clears your child's attendance and keeps them caught up.
As a reminder, CELC official start time is 9:05 am. Students are not considered late until 9:06 am. Please check into the office for a late slip to ensure that your child is not marked absent. Please supervise your student until the classroom door opens and teachers begin greeting.
The sliding gate closes on or before 9:05 am. All late arrivals must go through the front gate and sign in at the office.

Did you know that we had a guest principal on Friday? Mr. J. did the morning announcements, walked through the classrooms, checked on the staff, and helped with dismissal. This Cub showed some true leadership skills! Thank you to his parents for bidding on this auction item at the Spring Fling.

Attention MVLA Parents

The teachers are planning Celebration of Success Ceremonies for kindergarten, fifth, and eighth grade. Ceremonies are on Thursday, June 2nd. Mark your calendars: Kindergarten is at 9:30 am and fifth and eighth grade is at 10:30 am. The promotions will take place in the shady grass area between MVLA and the baseball field. Please park in the CELC parking lot. SHES is having an event on the same day and it overlaps with our time.

The District will be collecting and inventorying Chromebooks after CAASPP and iReady assessments are completed. Each site will setting up and communication a procedure in the coming weeks. All MVLA Chromebooks will be collected by June 9th.

Plan Work Due Dates:

2022-23 Registration

Our online registration is now open. This is Part II for CELC. Part I paper packets are available in the CELC office. Register now for the 2022-23 school year. Please visit this link to update current students and register new students: https://www.alpineschools.net/o/ausd/page/parentvue.

PBIS Parent Survey (CELC & MVLA)

AUSD uses Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) District-wide. Our goal is to ensure that all students succeed and receive support through teaching appropriate behaviors and using progressing discipline. As part of the process to ensure that we are effective in meeting student goals, we poll the parents at each school to provide us with data to analyze and use to identify areas in need of improvement. The survey is anonymous and will take about 3-5 minutes to complete. Your input is greatly appreciated and it will truly help us make improvements specific to your schools. Please take a few minutes to fill out the the District's Parent Survey by June 1st.

COVID-19 Testing

CovX will continue to provide COVID testing in the Shadow Hills parking lot on Wednesdays only from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm. AUSD staff will be prioritized to move to the front of the line.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR CovX TESTING

CovX has notified us that the government testing reimbursements have changed the required information for patient testing. Please see below.

Human Resources and Service Administration (HRSA) will no longer be able to reimburse covid tests, therefore tests will now only go through insurance providers or a cash price. We unfortunately will not be able to run tests until we can confirm patient insurance information. We understand the difficulties in the transition, so we are available to assist with information submission or creating new patient registration forms.

This change will be effective for any samples received on 3/22/2022 and moving forward.

CUBS IN THE COMMUNITY

The Cubs in the Community tradition continues this school year. Mrs. RIpke's goal is to connect with 100 Cubs (Future, Former, or Current) by the 100th day of school. Building relationships with our students is important to us! If you see Mrs. Ripke out in the community, encourage your student to say hi. Not only does it create an opportunity to connect, it also supports students' language and communication skills. Follow the sightings on our FB page. Want to Volunteer?

Please contact Stephanie Green in the office if you have any questions about PTA and any other volunteer opportunities.If you haven't already, please make sure all paperwork is completed and turned in. This includes an up-to-date TB test, the volunteer form, and proof of the COVID-19 vaccination. Persons not vaccinated are required to show a negative PCR COVID-19 test within the previous 7 days of your volunteer day. Please check with your child's teacher for any opportunities coming up. The office could utilize volunteers as well. Let us know if you like to organize!

We have a need for adult volunteers to help clean out some spaces on campus. If anyone is willing to volunteer after school or on the weekend, please let us know.

AUSD is Hiring

The district would like to increase the number of substitute teachers in our pool. The pay has increased to $200 dollars a day. Please help spread the word. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Mrs. Ripke.
