Families,

I’m constantly reminded what an incredible community we have here at Flynn. The energy, kindness, and dedication I see from our students, staff, and families make me proud to serve as your principal.

This week, we were honored to host 25 educators from four different states who visited to learn more about the great work happening here at John E. Flynn a Marzano Academy. They left inspired by what they saw. Your students, our teachers, and the strong sense of community that makes Flynn so special.

As we head into mid-October, I wanted to highlight some upcoming events that bring our school

community together, including Parent-Teacher Conferences, the Scholastic Book Fair, and our Trunk or Treat.

• October 13 – No School (Non-Student Contact Day)

• October 20–21 – Parent-Teacher Conferences, 2:30- 7PM on Monday and 3:30–7PM on Tuesday (teachers will reach out to sign up)

• October 20–22 – Scholastic Book Fair in the Flynn Library (open during conferences until 7:00 PM; details below)

• October 20 – WPS District Showcase & Trick-or-Treat Night at Westminster High School

• October 25 – Trunk or Treat at Flynn! (see below to sign up)

• October 28 – Picture Retakes

• October 29 – Dress Down Day – costumes allowed! (No masks, fake blood, or face paint.)

• October 30–31 – Fall Break (No School)

Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Flynn! This is a great opportunity to build your child’s home library with books they’ll love. We need volunteers! So please sign up below to help out.

The easiest way to let your child shop independently is by creating an eWallet—a digital account that allows you, family, and friends to easily add funds. You can also contribute to Share the Fair, which helps ensure every child has the chance to take home a new book.

Book Fair Details:

• Dates: October 20–22 (open online through November 2)

• Location: Flynn Library

• Family Shopping: Open during Parent-Teacher Conferences until 7:00 PM

When you volunteer or make a purchase, you directly support our school and help promote a love of reading across our community.

Calling all spooktacular parents! Get ready to light up our parking lot with spooky fun, sweet treats, and creative car trunks at this year’s Trunk or Treat! We’re inviting YOU to join the fun by decorating your trunk and handing out candy to our little ghosts and goblins.

Bring your Halloween spirit, your best trunk-decorating game, and let’s make this event a hauntingly good time for our students!

We’re excited to invite you to the Westminster Public Schools District Showcase on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Westminster High School.

This annual event celebrates student learning, growth, and creativity across the district, featuring displays, performances, and program showcases. Families are encouraged to dress in costume for this year’s Halloween Trick-or-Treat theme, complete with booths, candy, and a costume contest with prizes!
