Good Evening NMS Families

It sure doesn't feel like spring is almost here with the cold weather coming back. This week will be spirit week for our school. I will include what we will wear each day later in this newsletter. We will also celebrate kindness week each day, ending with a wall decorating contest between the houses.

Have a great week!

Kindness Week

Our Community Building Committee has come up with a great idea for the week of Valentine's Day! Since this takes place during advisory week we have planned another school community building event. We are going to call this Kindness Week. During advisory, students will fill out a form naming a student and an act of kindness that student did. All students who are nominated will go into a drawing. Each day we will pull five names and give away a $10 gift card. We will create a chain link from paper for each act of kindness, creating an entire chain for each house. Homerooms will also be given inspiring words and phrases to decorate and hang in the hallways. The week will culminate with a Valentine's Day door decorating contest on Friday.

Any parents interested in helping put the kindness chains together after school reach out to Ms. Capistran at lcapistran@nps.org.

February Vacation Academy

During winter break we will have a vacation academy for our students. This year our vacation academy is open to all students, and will include project based, cross curricular activities in Math, ELA, and Science. The academy will take place 2/22- 2/25 from 8-11am. If you would like your child to attend let Mr. Stien know at jstien@nps.org. We will have transportation for students if needed.

Club and Sports Pictures

On Wednesday 2/16/22 we will have pictures for our club and sports teams. We will begin at 8am and hope to finish by 11am.

Note- These are not picture retakes

8th Grade Events

Thank you to the 8th grade parents for their help with planning end of year events for the students. This year we are aiming to have our lip sync in the beginning of April, our Dinner/Dance sometime in May, and a class field trip in June. And of course our 8th grade promotion ceremony!

After School Parking

Just a reminder not to park near the cross walk when waiting for your students after school. I have also asked the bus company to pull up pass the cross walk for after school busing. Please use the parking lot across the street to help our students stay safe.
