LOLHS IB In Focus
September 2026
An Amazing Start to the Year!
As we move further into the school year, it is clear that we are operating in full gear. Classrooms are active, students are engaged, and our school community continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence. While many exciting activities and opportunities are taking place, learning remains our number one focus. We are incredibly proud of our students and want to commend them for their drive, determination, and dedication to their academic success. Their hard work, resilience, and positive attitude are setting the tone for a productive and rewarding year. We encourage them to continue striving for their personal best as we work together to achieve great things.

Club Fair
We hosted our Club Fair during the last week of August, giving students the opportunity to explore the many clubs and organizations available at LOLHS. Students are encouraged to actively participate in these opportunities, as involvement in clubs helps build leadership skills, fosters new interests and connections, and contributes to becoming a well-rounded student. Consistent participation in extracurricular activities can also strengthen college applications by demonstrating commitment, initiative, and engagement beyond the classroom.

Preparing for Progress Report Grades
As progress report time approaches, this is a great opportunity for students and families to take an active role in monitoring academic progress and planning for success.
For Students:
✅ Check your grades regularly. Review your current averages and identify any missing or incomplete assignments.
✅ Communicate with your teachers. If you have questions about assignments, grades, or ways to improve, reach out as soon as possible.
✅ Stay organized. Keep track of upcoming tests, projects, and deadlines using a planner or digital calendar.
✅ Use available support. Attend tutoring sessions, study groups, office hours, or seek help from teachers when needed.
✅ Set goals. Focus on specific actions you can take before the grading period ends, such as completing missing work, improving attendance, or increasing study time.
For Parents and Guardians:
✅ Review your student's grades and attendance. Discuss both successes and areas that may need improvement.
✅ Encourage communication. Support your student in contacting teachers if they need clarification or assistance.
✅ Establish routines. Help create a consistent schedule for homework, studying, and adequate sleep.
✅ Monitor assignments. Check that work is being completed and submitted on time.
✅ Celebrate progress. Recognize effort, improvement, and achievements, while working together to address challenges.
Remember
A progress report is a snapshot of your student's performance at this point in the grading period. It is designed to help students and families identify strengths, address concerns early, and make a plan for continued growth and success.
Let's work together to finish the grading period strong! Every assignment, every class period, and every effort counts. 📚✨
