NWEA MAP Reading and Math Qualifying Percentiles by grade-level:

The TAG program is committed to equitable, developmentally appropriate identification, and support for high-potential students. We have moved from using RIT scores to National Achievement Percentiles as percentiles hold consistency over time as national norms are updated. The district has already accounted for standard error of measurement in the selection of these cut scores.

If your student has met the qualifying scores for their grade level on both the NWEA MAP Reading and Math assessments, they will be invited to take the CogAT, the qualifying assessment for the P-CCS Talented and Gifted program.

NWEA MAP Growth NWEA MAP Growth

What is the NWEA MAP Growth and how is it administered?

The NWEA MAP Growth Reading and Math are computer-adaptive assessments that respond to each student individually. The tests are designed to measure student achievement and growth over time and provide comparisons to typical students in the nation.

MAP Growth tests are untimed. Students in 2nd through 7th grade typically take about 45-75 minutes.

The NWEA MAP Growth is used as the screening assessment for the TAG Program. Only NWEA MAP Growth scores administered by P-CCS will be considered.

CogAT CogAT

What is the CogAT test?

The CogAT is a nationally standardized cognitive abilities assessment which measures reasoning and problem solving skills. This assessment measures the cognitive development of each student. The CogAT is widely used to determine eligibility for Talented and Gifted programs.

How is the CogAT given?

The CogAT is administered online and is a timed assessment.

P-CCS uses the CogAT as the TAG qualifying assessment. CogAT testing will take place in April of 2027.
