Sunday Message

Good Evening Hamilton Families,

Our students continue to work hard as we approach the end of the year. They’ve been working on their iReady testing and we are so excited with all the growth we’ve seen. There are so many fun events coming up and we are looking forward to seeing families involved. We hope you had a great weekend!

Upcoming Events

To stay in the know of all planned events, check out this document. Mrs. Tevenan will keep this updated as events are added.

Yearbook

If you would like to order a 2023-2024 Hamilton Yearbook, please fill out this form. All 5th grade students will receive a FREE yearbook so there is no need to order one unless you’d like an additional one. Yearbooks cost $17 and will go home the first week of June.

Mathematical Monthly

Check out the latest math concepts being taught at school! Our math coaches have organized information so you can work at home with your child.

Field Day - 6/7/24

Reminder, Hamilton’s Field Day will be this upcoming Friday. Please make sure your child wears their grade level t-shirt or color as well as sunblock. Students will have built in water breaks, so please pack a water bottle. No spectators allowed, only volunteers who have an active CORI.

Preventative Measures for Ticks

With the uptick in nice weather, our students have been enjoying recess outside. Just a reminder for families, to be mindful of ticks that may end up on students. We are reminding students to stay away from the perimeter of the recess areas where there is higher grass and wooded areas.

Welcome Mrs. Newman

Sadly, Hamilton lost our OT Ms. Jan in March. In the meantime we have been looking for a new occupational therapist who has the same passion and patience for our students. We have been lucky enough to hire Mrs. Newman who began at Hamilton last week. If your child receives OT services, their schedules have resumed.

Luau Spirit Day - Thursday 6/6/24

On Thursday June 6, 2024 we are inviting our class of 2024 WHS seniors who started their career at Hamilton, to come walk the halls in their graduation gowns. We want our current Hamilton students to join in on the fun and invite them to wear their best Hawaiian Luau gear.

Parent Council Meeting - 6/4/24

Please join the parent council for the last meeting of the year! We meet virtually and you don’t even have to turn your camera on!

Outdoor Classroom

Congratulations to Patrick Hardy, a current WHS senior and former Hamilton student who has earned the honor of Eagle Scout. Patrick led the project of giving back to his elementary school by designing and building an outdoor classroom here at Hamilton. Digital Wellness - Topic: The Impact of Social Media on Mental Health

Please check out the latest newsletter which helps parents navigate parenting digitally.

Lost and Found

Please have your children check the lost and found. Every few weeks we will be donating items not claimed.

Recess Attire

With the nice weather, we have had lots of students wearing crocs and sandals to school. With this, we have had an uptick in injuries during recess and gym. Yes they are comfy, but if your child likes to play any of the more active games we are seeing minor strains and lots of stubbed toes. Please wear sneakers on gym days and everyday for our more active recess participants.

Mental Health Awareness Month

As students' academic and social demands grow, so too should the importance of discussing and addressing their mental health. Students face a variety of stressors, and it is crucial to foster an environment of understanding mental health, decreasing stigma, and providing support. Below are resources that address mental health and provide students with the tools to thrive inside and outside school.

Please refer to this document for more information.

Bus Dismissal Feed

X (formerly Twitter) is having some issues, so we have moved to posting our bus dismissal times on Facebook. You do not need a Facebook account to see these posts. Please click here each afternoon to know when each bus has left Hamilton for the day.

Attendance Call Procedures

Please refer to our absence call procedure for when your child is not attending school.

Attendance Counts

Having students at school and on time daily is a major part of having a successful school year both academically and socially emotionally. Please send your child to school every day, unless they have any of the prohibited symptoms. Let us know how we can help if attendance is a concern for your family.

Lunch & Breakfast

Students may bring their lunch from home or choose from the daily menu. Breakfast will be grab and go and lunch will have hot and cold options. All students will have access to meals at no cost.

Weymouth Wednesdays

Staff and students are invited to join in on Weymouth Wednesdays at Hamilton. Dress in Weymouth gear or wear maroon and gold.

Bus Expectations

We want to remind families that riding the bus is a privilege and that safety for all students is extremely important. We will continue to review behavior expectations and adjust individual plans as necessary so that all students are having a safe and enjoyable transportation experience.

PAW Slips

Throughout the school day, students are being recognized for representing ROAR (Respect. Ownership. Achievement. Responsibility) by staff members when they are seen demonstrating these traits. Students are given a paw slip that explains what they were seen doing. This slip is given to the front office, and the student is given a sticker so the whole school community can see that a PAW was earned. Every Friday, random student PAW slips will be pulled so we can recognize students who have been ROARing across Hamilton. Be sure to ask your student how they are ROARing at home and school, particularly with our focus this month on helping others.

Afternoon Parking

As a reminder, if you will be using the playground while waiting for your child or staying past dismissal time for any reason, you need to be parking in the row closest to the swings. This is for the safety of all students as the other cars are released. Also, please be aware of the cones that are placed after dismissal so that Champions can utilize the outdoor space. Do not drive through this area when the cones are out.

Morning Drop Off

Please refer to our Morning Drop-Off procedure as a reminder of our protocol. You must stay in your car at all times. Please have your child(ren) exit only on the passenger side (moving car seats if necessary) and follow the vehicle in front of you as you exit.

Parent Council

Our Parent Council works hard throughout the year to raise funds for our Hamilton Community. Without their active involvement, we would not be able to bring the additional level of positive experiences for our children. Please consider getting involved. There are many areas where support is needed and every little bit helps with enhancing our overall school experience. Our officers are listed below.

President - Nicole Jones

Vice President - Rachel Collins

Secretary - Karen Kintz

Treasurer - Brian Tupper
