It has been quite a start to the month of February!

As you have heard, cold and flu season has hit hard this year. Thank you for your diligence in calling in when your student is going to be out. We have included some guidance from the Oregon Health Authority to help families when they are deciding whether their student should stay home or is safe to come to school further down in the newsletter.

Important Reminder: Please remember that during arrival and dismissal, students should not be going in and out of the parking lot without an adult. Feel free to come through the car line or park and walk your student to the side door or to their classroom door to pick them up. In order to ensure safety for all our students, parents should not be waiting in the parking lot and expecting students to come or go from their vehicle.

Tomorrow is the final day to submit applications for our Archer Glen Talent Show! If your student is planning to sing, please include the lyrics to their song with the application. We are looking forward to seeing our Eagles shine at the Talent Show later this month!

There will be no school on Monday in honor of President's Day. Langer's will be hosting a Make a Difference Monday for Archer Glen all day on Monday. All bowling and shoe rental proceeds will come back to the Archer Glen PAC. A great way to have fun and support our PAC!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Kindly,

Sarah

Sherwood School District will be offering free vision screening for all students on (enter date below). Screenings will be conducted in partnership with the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation with the assistance of parent volunteers, using SPOT screening devices. The screening is quick, painless, and non-invasive - it is performed from a short distance without touching your child’s eyes or face.

Screening Results

Results will be available in approximately one week.
Most students will pass the screening.
Families of students who do not pass will receive results via backpack mail.
If you would like a copy of your child’s passing results, please email health@sherwood.k12.or.us.

Opt-Out Option

If you do not want your child to participate in the vision screening, please contact your school office to opt out.

Financial Assistance

If your child needs an eye exam or glasses, financial assistance may be available. Please reach out to Patina Fieken, District Health Services at 503-825-5093 for more information.
