Happy Thanksgiving!
In honor of Thanksgiving, all MCS schools are closed on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week. Although students have no new assignments these three days, it is a great time to get caught up on late work.
Mandatory state testing starts next week for 10th-12th graders. Please see the chart below for details.
We are thankful for all of our wonderful MVS students and families! Enjoy your holiday together!
Go M@VS!

Below is the schedule. (If your student is testing in a small group, please look for an email from Mrs. Vagnier with the date/time.) These tests are mandatory and count as 15% of your student's grade for the course. All tests are taken on laptops, so please come with a charged laptop and your charger. If you have any questions, please contact us at 865-681-2289.

Graduation Cap and Gown Ordering

If you haven't received the email you can find our special MVS Herff Jones web store by clicking here. All orders need to be placed before December 1st to ensure enough production and delivery time. The website can be a little confusing so here are the steps to reach the section to order the cap and gown.

- Click on "Grad Gear and Apparel."
- Scroll to the bottom for "Cap, Gown and Tassel with required items for Graduation."

9-12 Ready Graduate Advisor
Maryville City Schools has invested in staff and programs to help students start thinking about what happens after high school and what could be great for each of them. Throughout this year, we will hear more about the Ready Graduate Center and a piece of software called School Links that will assist your student on this journey. Our 9-12 Ready Graduate Advisor is Wes Lambert. Please reach out to him if you have any questions- wes.lambert@maryville-schools.org

Employer of the Day Visits @ MHS
Lunchtime Employer of the Day visits connect students with local professionals, open doors to career possibilities, and help them start building their professional network. These businesses and employers will have representatives at Maryville High School on these days. You are invited to visit with these businesses at 11:30 PM. Please double check SchoolLinks for the updated schedule. (Login through ClassLink, choose SchoolLinks, and click on Events. See picture below) If you are a MVS junior or senior and want to visit with the representative, please check in at MHS front desk and then make your way to the MHS Commons Area. Community Connections
UPDATE from the United Way of Blount County
United Way of Blount County has created a resource guide to help individuals and families navigate challenges. This guide includes information about local resources, such as food assistance, utility support, housing, and other essential servicesāavailable to those who may be affected. Please share this information with anyone who may find it useful. This is a working resource, and the United Way will keep updating it to meet community needs.
Procedure Reminders
Snow Day/ Inclement Weather Policy
In the event of a snow day school closing as determined by Maryville City Schools, MVS will cancel all on-site meetings and any virtual TEAMS meetings. Students are still expected to complete all assignments on time for the week and due dates will not change. If your ability to complete assignments is affected by weather-related loss of power or Wi-Fi, students are to email teachers when they are able and request guidance. MCS delayed start or early dismissal will only alter the times of on-site or TEAMS meetings that fall within the shifted time. If changes need to be made, MVS staff will email families directly. MCS digital days will have no effect on the MVS schedule.
Ready to Start Driving?
Students must request their 1010 Form before going to the DMV to receive their Learnerās Permit. Please call MVS or email Jennifer Davis. 1010 forms are given based on the previous 9 weeks' grades. If you are failing multiple classes, you are not eligible for a 1010 form until your grades are brought up to passing. The 1010 forms are good for 30 days during the school year.
Turning in Late Work?
If you are turning in any late work, be sure to always contact your teacher after submitting the assignment. Teachers are not notified when a student submits assignments after the due date, so they may not know you even turned something in.
Feeling Sick?
Please remember to email your teachers and the MVS front office any doctor's notes for appointments or illness. Each student has 10 "parent convenience" days that are considered excused with no note. Any absences beyond those 10 days without a medical or legal note will be marked unexcused.
Tempted to Use AI or the Internet to Plagiarize?
If a teacher wants your student to use AI to help with an assignment or writing, then he or she will let them know that when the assignment is made. Unless a teacher gives students permission to use AI for a specific assignment, students are not to use Artificial Intelligence sites or apps to help with MVS assignments. Work that is generated with the use of AI will be treated like plagiarism and will be graded as such. If this occurs, teachers may give students a zero for the assignment or the option to come into MVS to rewrite an essay with paper and pencil or monitored technology. As a reminder, please see the Student Contract & Honor Code below that was signed at orientation.
