OLD BUSINESS:
- Kendra Clay is looking into updating the policy. More info to come at February Meeting
- The committee discussed options including a standardized Evaluation form for Principals to use for clerical and Paraprofessionals. Most other job categories have their own evaluation forms.
Dee Hobbs gave the PPC a detailed explanation of the onboarding process for new employees:
- Onboarding consists of the New Hire being contacted by email from the business office giving the information about their position, clocking in and out, login information for email, retirement benefits, and background checks. The HR packet of information also includes the Sick Leave Policy, Salary Schedule, and Contract work dates. HR paperwork is sent through our Onboarding setup in Winocular (application system). Forms pertinent to the employees are given at this time. Verification of Experience for placement on the salary schedule is sent electronically through Winocular to previous employers listed on the application and then verified by the business office when returned electronically. Para Pro testing is verified if needed for the position. The New Hire is sent the Frontline Absence login information for absences in a separate email. New Hires are contacted by Sherri Whitehead regarding insurance benefits. The position training is done at the building level. Any concerns should be handled by the building Principal or Supervisor and a grievance can be filed per policy. The Springdale School District's website is available to all employees to navigate and Search for information needed. (Dee Hobbs)
- Forms aren’t translated into Spanish, but translators are available at the business office.
- Make sure ALL classified staff know their username and password. (This information is given during the hiring process) If staff don’t know how to access their email contact their supervisor or Building Technology Technician
- Make a short video tutorial on how to check your email that can be sent to new hires
- Promote the use of email with drawings and prizes
- Ask supervisors and building admin to encourage employees to check their email and use it as the main form of communication with employees
- Please make sure you are using your school email address when signing up for giveaways. Several requests submitted were done with incorrect email addresses and that causes issues during pick up
- Damon Donnell will create a short video on how to use Sign Up Genius and send it out with the next giveaway
* Classified Staff Receiving Professional Development for Emergency Procedures
- All Classified Staff will be trained twice a year (September and January) by Building Safety Designees using this Safety Video and then be given a Safety Quiz.
* Kendra Clay will present the revised Classified Personnel Policies at the March PPC meeting
* We filled the 2 new positions on the Classified PPC.
(neither was present, voting will be tabled until the March PPC Meeting)
- Liliana Solis- Para Pro
- Jim Bennett-transportation
NEW BUSINESS:
Q: Does the Classified PPC want to start doing this next year?
QUESTIONS/CONCERNS | Q & A
- Does the District have an outline or required training checklist for New Employees?
- What type of training/information is given to classified staff in regard to their position, their benefits available, best practices, technology (i.e. logging into account), where to find forms pertinent to their employment (how to navigate the website), their rights as employees, the protocol for dealing for concerns, how to file a grievance?
A: See the answers above regarding staff onboarding.
Q: Where to get answers for classified staff that are not a policy question that concerns a supervisor or if the staff member feels their supervisor didn’t follow policy?
A: The staff member can request a meeting with the supervisor’s superior or file a grievance.
A: The PPC requested that a flow chart be created for each department showing the chain of command so they can direct concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- A: Sherry Pianalto sent the flier out to all Classified Staff.
Several staff have had recurrences of Covid or may have gotten it for the 1st time. It doesn't seem fair to those who are just now getting it and may not have used any Covid leave
A: There are no plans to reinstate Covid leave at this time. (Khayes)
- A: BITTs report to both Technology Director and the building administration.
Both the Technology Director and Building Administrator would have input on the evaluation. (Khayes)
