Principal's Message
Dear Neubert Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weekend and had a wonderful Mother’s Day celebrating the special people in your lives! This week is a busy and exciting one at Neubert! We have several special events taking place, including our 5th grade students visiting DMS and WCS for 6th Grade Orientation, the 5th Grade Health Education Program, our Kindergarten Music Concert, Field Day, and our PBIS Royal Student Assembly (please note that families of students being recognized during the PBIS Royal Student Assembly will receive a direct invitation prior to the event). We also have a Late Start Day on Wednesday, May 13, with school beginning at 10:00 AM. Please be sure to review the calendar down below and plan accordingly for arrival times, special events, and end-of-year activities as we continue wrapping up another wonderful school year together!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support at home.
Your Partner in Education,
Ms. Nicole Bryan, Principal

May; Mental Health Awareness Month
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to recognize the importance of caring for our emotional well-being just as much as our physical health. At Neubert, we are committed to supporting the whole child by fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where every student feels valued and connected. We encourage families to take time this month to check in with one another, practice self-care, and talk openly about feelings. Simple moments—like sharing a meal, going for a walk, or unplugging from devices—can make a meaningful difference. Together, we can continue to build a community where mental health is prioritized and everyone feels supported.
May; Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, a time to celebrate and honor the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in our communities and across the country. This month provides a meaningful opportunity for families to learn together, explore diverse perspectives, and recognize the impact of AAPI individuals past and present.
Ways to celebrate and honor AAPI Heritage Month as a family:
- Read books by Asian American and Pacific Islander authors or featuring AAPI characters
- Explore traditional foods from different AAPI cultures by cooking a new recipe together or visiting a local restaurant
- Learn about influential AAPI figures who have shaped history, science, arts, and leadership
- Watch a family-friendly movie or documentary that highlights AAPI stories and experiences
- Attend a local cultural event, festival, or museum exhibit (in person or virtually)
- Listen to music from different AAPI cultures and discuss its meaning or history
- Create art inspired by traditional AAPI styles or cultural symbols
- Have conversations about the importance of diversity, inclusion, and respect for all cultures
Celebrating AAPI Heritage Month helps our students grow as empathetic, informed, and globally-minded individuals. Thank you for partnering with us in honoring and learning from the many cultures that make our community strong.
May; Jewish American Heritage Month
May is Jewish American Heritage Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the rich history, culture, and contributions of Jewish Americans to our country. From the arts and sciences to public service and community leadership, Jewish Americans have helped shape our nation in countless ways. This month offers a meaningful opportunity for families to learn together, reflect on shared values, and honor the diversity that strengthens our community.
Ways to celebrate and honor Jewish American Heritage Month as a family:
- Read books that highlight Jewish culture, traditions, or stories by Jewish authors
- Learn about influential Jewish Americans who have made an impact in history, science, arts, and leadership
- Explore Jewish holidays and traditions, such as Shabbat, Hanukkah, or Passover, and discuss their meanings
- Visit a local museum, cultural center, or explore virtual exhibits focused on Jewish history
- Cook or try traditional Jewish foods together, such as challah, matzo ball soup, or latkes
- Watch a family-friendly movie or documentary that shares Jewish stories or experiences
- Listen to traditional or modern Jewish music and learn about its cultural significance
- Have conversations about the importance of inclusion, respect, and standing up against antisemitism
By taking time to learn and celebrate, we help our students grow in understanding, empathy, and appreciation for the diverse cultures that make up our community. Thank you for partnering with us in this important work.
Lions Club Glasses Donations
Neubert is collecting gently used glasses for the local Lions Club. Please consider sending in donations to support this wonderful local service club; a donation box will be in the main office. The Lions Club has partnered with District 300 for many years to help provide vision exams and eyeglasses for students in need. This is a great opportunity for our Neubert Knights community to give back!
Ronald McDonald Care Mobile
The Mobile Clinic provides easy access to quality health care for students with Medicaid as their primary insurance or no health insurance to assist in obtaining the state of Illinois required school physicals and immunizations. This program does not accept private insurance or payment. View the flyer for more information here.
The Royal Broom Competition
Congratulations to Mrs. Kumm's Class (for the third time)! 🎉
They are the winners of our Royal Broom Award for keeping the cleanest classroom the entire week of April 27! Our night custodians crowned them champions, and their room sparkled the brightest. ✨The Royal Broom competition runs all year long, so who will sweep up the honor next week? 🧹
May's Perfect Attendance Award
We’re excited to share this month’s Perfect Attendance Reward! Students who have perfect attendance in May will earn their choice of a free scoop of ice cream at Culver's, free kids meal at First Watch, or free skate at Xtreme Wheels! Let’s keep up the great attendance and enjoy some fun rewards!
Lost and Found: Is Your Student's Favorite Hoodie Playing Hide-and-Seek?
Updated 04/28/26
It seems our Lost and Found has become the most popular "hangout spot" at school! Our collection is officially overflowing, and it’s looking a bit like a winter wonderland in there, minus the snow.
We currently have a mountain of treasures waiting to be reunited with their owners, including:
Winter Coats that miss the great outdoors.
Hoodies that are feeling a little lonely.
Shoes waiting for their "sole-mate."
Gloves and Mittens (many of whom are currently flying solo and looking for their better half!).
If your child has come home a little "lighter" than they left this winter, please encourage them to take a peek at the Lost and Found table.
To help lost items make a quicker reunion in the future, we encourage families to write students’ names on their belongings. A name goes a long way in helping us return items faster. Thank you for helping keep our Lost & Found from growing! 😊
Neubert Spirit Wear Days
Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a team of passionate parents and staff who work together to make Neubert an even better place to learn and grow. From planning fun family events to supporting teachers and students, the PTO helps build the strong, connected community our kids deserve. Stay tuned for ways to get involved!
