Dear Adventure Families,

As we prepare for another exciting year of learning, we are proud to continue our schoolwide theme, Creciendo Juntos—Growing Together. Included in this June Newsletter, you will find important dates and details to prepare for the first day of the new school year. If you're not ready to think about August yet, save this email for a couple months from now.

At Adventure, we believe that students achieve their greatest success when schools and families work together in partnership. In the upcoming year, our focus will be on deepening our understanding of how students develop language, literacy, and academic knowledge, and strengthening the role that each of us—students, families, and staff—plays in supporting that growth. By embracing our individual and collective responsibility for student growth, strengthening instructional excellence, partnering with families, and fostering socio-cultural competence, we will ensure every student develops the knowledge, skills, confidence, courage, and voice to communicate effectively, express themselves authentically, and thrive in both languages and across all learning experiences.

Together, we will continue building a community where students develop the skills to think deeply, communicate their learning with confidence, and grow academically, socially, and culturally. For many students, this includes developing strong skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening in both English and Spanish. For all students, it means strengthening their ability to use language to learn, share ideas, solve problems, and engage meaningfully with the world around them.

Throughout the year, we will provide opportunities for families to learn more about student development, academic growth, and language learning, while also sharing practical ways to support learning at home. Our goal is to refine our collective understanding of how students grow and learn, and to strengthen our shared responsibility for supporting that growth.

Through high-quality instruction, meaningful family partnerships, and shared ownership of student success, we will continue creating learning experiences that help every child grow, achieve, and thrive.

Thank you for being an essential part of our Adventure community. We look forward to growing together with you this year.

Saludos,

Sarah and Marisa

Summer Reading Challenge! Summer Reading Challenge!

This summer, Adventure students are invited to participate in a schoolwide reading tradition to keep our learning and bilingual identity growing all year long! During the last days of school, each student chose a book to take home and enjoy over the summer. Along with their book, students will receive a “book spine” template to complete after reading. New to Adventure students (or anyone who lost their paper) are invited to read a book of their choosing and use any strip of paper to decorate as a book spine.

Students can decorate their spine and include the title, author, their name, and a key theme word written in both English and Spanish (for example: friendship/amistad or courage/valentía). Students should bring the completed book spine back to school for Back-to-School Night on August 6, where we will build a beautiful community mural: Our Bilingual Bookshelf / Nuestra Biblioteca Bilingüe. There will be prizes for all students who participate!

We can’t wait to celebrate our students as readers and showcase how our Adventure community grows in both languages—one book at a time!
