Here are the dates for Spring Milestones testing. Please do your best to have students present and ready to do their best on these days. ALL students will need a pair of wire headphones for the ELA assessment this year. If you have an extra pair of wired headphones (AUX or USB) please send them in to your child's teacher to store for testing by 3/13. We will do our district wide Secure Practice Test to stress our system on 3/17 and they will be needed by then. The teacher will store them in the classroom through testing and then they will be returned.

4/30- ELA Section 2
5/1- ELA Section 3
5/5- Math Section 1
5/6- Math Section 2
5/7- Science (5th only)
If you have any questions, you can reach out to your child's teacher.
Our Cougars Have Talent!
Come support our talented 4th & 5th grade students in the annual CWES Talent show which will be held Wednesday March 25th at 6:00 in the cafeteria. Admission is free, and there will be a concession stand with snacks that only accepts CASH. Proceeds from the concessions will go towards our Student Ambassador's program which does projects for the school and community.
Placement Letters
One of the most exciting tasks, which presents the greatest opportunity for all children to learn and succeed, is to create classrooms. Among the variables we consider are class size, gender and ethnicity ratios, ability and exceptionality distribution, special learning needs, student personalities, and learning and teaching styles. Each year teachers, counselors, and administrators work together to find an appropriate assignment for each student, and we welcome your parental input as we begin this thoughtful and important process. Completing a placement letter is neither necessary nor required and often addresses the exception rather than the rule. However, we want to be sure that parents have an opportunity to share concerns with us.
If you feel your child has specific learning needs or unique considerations that should be brought to our attention, please write/type a placement letter. Please do NOT ask for a specific teacher by name, but instead describe the environment that you feel might best support your child’s learning needs. List the things you think we should take into consideration, such as separating best friends, personal or family challenges, or student behaviors or interests. These letters will be shared with your child’s teacher next fall. Once our class assignments are made and school begins, placements are tentative through the 10-day count. However, we work hard to create classes that require no changes outside of increasing enrollment.
Any input regarding this process must occur through the return of this letter and cannot be honored in any other way. We cannot accept emails, phone calls, nor can we hold personal conferences regarding student placement. In communications with your current teachers through this year, please do not name teacher preferences or solicit a teacher recommendation from your child’s current teacher.
Please return placement letter by Friday, April 3, 2026 in an envelope addressed to Sharon Masten, Curriculum Support Teacher. Letters must include the following information:
Student Name
Parent Name
Grade for 2026-2027
Considerations for placement
Student separation (if needed)
