Bulldog BARK
October 20th-November 1st
"At NCHS every student graduates college and career ready with 21st century skills."
From the Principal's Desk
It is hard to believe that we are already halfway through October. As we move through the second half of the month, I want to thank our students, staff, and families for the effort and commitment they have shown each day. The positive energy in our classrooms and throughout the building continues to make our school a great place to learn and grow.
One area that deserves special recognition is attendance. Our students have done an outstanding job being present and engaged each day. Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in student success, and we appreciate the partnership of our families in helping ensure students are at school and ready to learn.
We are also quickly approaching the end of the first quarter. Now is the time for students to stay focused, complete assignments, and take advantage of opportunities to seek help when needed. I encourage all students to check their grades regularly, communicate with their teachers, and finish the quarter strong.
Thank you to our staff for the tremendous work you do each day and to our families for your continued support. Together, we are creating opportunities for our students to succeed both academically and personally.
Let's keep the momentum going and make the remainder of October a great one!
Thank you for your continued dedication and support. Please reach out if there is anything I can do to help.
WE ARE… BULLDOGS! 🐾
Sincerely,
Matthew Spiker
Principal

On October 15, we sent an email to all parents/guardians asking you to complete and return the student opt-in form that gives permission for your child to participate in a survey on October 26.
A copy of that letter is included below for your reference. If you would like your student to participate, please return the completed form by Friday, October 23.
Thank you for your support and prompt attention to this matter. We appreciate your partnership in helping us provide valuable feedback opportunities for our students.

LEO Club
The NCHS Leo Club will be collecting pull tabs from soda cans. The tabs are used by the Maryland Ronald McDonald House (RMH) to pay for the gas needed to take families to and from the RMH to medical facilities. The RMH offers free housing for families when their young ones need health care. The Maryland RMH has helped over 54,000 families since it began in 1982.
Please consider helping the cause by sending in your pull tabs. Each one is a help to a family in need. Each teacher has a collection container or you can drop them off in the office.
Thank you for making the world a better place,
NCHS Leo Club

Students interested in volunteering and scholarship opportunities for Waterfowl Festival please see below and attached flyer.
Here is the link for the students to register:
https://volunteer.bloomerang.co/volunteer/#/join-party?k=1btilp72oc9ir0
This year, we are asking students to use their personal email if they have one because we have had trouble contacting their school emails in the past.
Also, we would like to note that this year our downtown ducksitters will meet in Town Hall (rather than the typical Waterfowl Festival building)
I have also attached a flyer about our scholarship opportunities. It only takes 10 hours to become eligible for the scholarship!
If the kids have any questions please have them reach out to Ms. Miller at amiller@waterfowlfestival.org
Thanks so much!
CLASS OF 2028 FUNDRAISER
We're going to be launching a Snap! fundraiser for the Class of 2028. In the past, other classes have raised nearly $10,000, and I really think we can beat that! It will take everyone participating and doing their part, but every contact we reach is another opportunity to raise money for our class.
PLANNED FUNDRAISER DATES:
- Start: November 2nd
- End: November 30th
There are our planned dates, but the launch may be pushed back if we don't have enough people involved through email and/or text. That's why it's so important for everyone to get signed up and preload their contacts as soon as possible!
PLEASE COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING:
1. JOIN THE FUNDRAISER
- Go to https://join.snap.app (You may need to sign up for an account or log in through Google. If you have already participated in a Snap! fundraiser through a different club or sport, you should already have an account)
- Enter the participant join code: 417-596-324
- Follow prompts to set up your account
2. PRELOAD AT LEAST 20 EMAILS/PHONE NUMBERS
I want EVERY student to try to load at least 20 email addresses/phone numbers of people who might be willing to donate.
Think of EVERYONE you know!
- Grandparents
- Aunts, uncles, cousins
- Family friends, neighbors
- Teachers you've had in the past
- Coaches/mentors
- Your parents' friends and coworkers
- Literally anyone you know who might be willing to support the class
How to add your contacts:
- Once you join, look for "Invite Supporters" or "Invite Donors"
- You can enter contacts using email, text message, or both! You can add some people by email and others by text, or use both methods
- Try to enter at least 20 email addresses or phone numbers for people who might donate
- Separate each email address or phone number with a comma when entering multiple contacts
- Follow the prompts to save or submit your contacts
Don't overthink it! Ask your parents or family members if they can help you come up with people to add. You might be surprised by how many people are willing to support you!
3. KNOW A BUSINESS THAT MIGHT SPONSOR US?
If you or your family know a local business owner who might be willing to sponsor our fundraiser, please let me know! Think about restaurants, salons, realtors, contractors, car dealerships, small businesses, and other local companies. Just send me the business name & contact info (if you have) and I can reach out to them!
IN SUMMARY:
Join at https://join.snap.app & enter code 417-596-324
Try to preload at least 20 contacts
Think of potential business sponsors
Get everything set up ASAP so we can launch on time!
Let's work together and see if we can raise more than $10,000! Every little bit helps, and I believe we can make this a huge success!!
