iReady Reports Coming in the Mail

We will soon be mailing reports to each family communicating the results of students' iReady assessments in reading and math from September. We use these reports to diagnose current learning levels and needs as well as evaluate student growth over time (we usually administer these assessments at the beginning, middle, and end of year). This program connects to iReady online lessons our students complete as a part of their math learning as well. To aid you in understanding the reports we send home, we are including several documents below that explain the information on them.

Spirit Week

View Ridge will be conducting a spirit week this week, with the following themed dress-up or theme days:

Monday - Blackout (Wear all black)

Tuesday - Positivity day (Send positive comments chats, or emails to at least 3 people (friends, teachers, parents, etc.))

Wednesday - Wacky Wednesday (Wear your hair crazy or put on (or make!) a hat)

Thursday - Throwback Thursday (Make your Zoom background is a picture of you when you were younger)

Friday - School Spirit Day (Wear blue and orange, join us at lunch for a Webinar with your ASB members and a fun Kahoot Trivia Game!)

We will also have a pumpkin decorating and carving contest! Students have been sent a link where they can upload their pumpkin contest photo by Wednesday, October 28th to be in the running!

Aristotle Chromebook Monitoring Program

A challenge of conducting school in a remote arrangement is effectively monitoring student activity from miles away. With Chromebooks being an essential component of delivering instruction, we also run into the myriad distractions presented by the Internet that tempt students to divert from their learning tasks. This was an issue even while in person. To assist us in staying on top of student activity during Zooms, we have a program called Aristotle that allows teachers to view student activity, restrict sites they can go to at a given time, and even pause an individual student's activity if something is not right. Our hope is that this helps us keep students focused and is more of a deterrent than a "gotcha" device. We appreciate all you do at home to keep student Internet activity focused and safe as well.
