Message from the Principal and Assistant Principal
Dear Hillcrest and Pine Avenue Families,
As your partner in education, we know in today’s rapidly evolving world, our students need more than just basic math skills—they need the ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and adapt to a global economy shaped by technology and artificial intelligence. That’s why we’re excited to introduce the Bridges math program, a dynamic curriculum designed to build deep understanding and real-world readiness.
Bridges goes beyond memorization. It encourages students to explore, question, and collaborate—skills essential for future careers in a world where AI and global connections are the norm. Our teachers use grade-level rubrics to assess student learning and adjust instruction in real time, ensuring every child receives targeted support to grow and thrive.
Alongside Bridges, our Bookworms literacy program is helping students build strong reading foundations through daily engagement with rich texts and meaningful discussions. Together, these programs are equipping students with the communication and reasoning skills they’ll need to succeed in any future pathway.
We invite you to learn more at our upcoming Coffee with the Principal on Friday, October 31, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Our Math and Literacy Coaches will share insights into our curriculum, walk through the rubrics we use, and answer your questions about how we’re preparing students for success—today and tomorrow.
Let’s build the future together, one math problem and one great book at a time.
Your partner in education,
Dr. Konowalow and Ms. Jaeck
