Egg Harbor Township High School
Week of June 4, 2023
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Dear EHTHS Families,
We are finally down to 8 days of school and our events are beginning to wrap up. Please join us in celebrating the achievements of our students, alumni, and the upcoming opportunities at EHT High School.
We want to congratulate our exceptional students who have earned an unweighted GPA of 90 and above. To celebrate their dedication and commitment to their academics, we organized a wonderful breakfast curated by our kitchen staff. It was a wonderful gathering where students were able to celebrate their achievements with their friends.
This week, we had a special evening dedicated to our graduating seniors who have earned local scholarships. We also recognized our Seal of Biliteracy and Principal's Award recipients. We are proud to announce that this year, our seniors collectively earned an incredible $19,000,000 in scholarships. This is truly amazing and a testament to their hard work and achievements.
We are excited to share some news about an upcoming opportunity for our students. EHT High School is partnering with South Jersey Gas for the third year in a row to host the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Bootcamp. This program will take place at the South Jersey Gas headquarters in Atlantic City this Fall. It is a free program aimed at introducing students to the dynamic and rapidly expanding field of AI, regardless of their computer familiarity. Applications for the program are due at the start of the 2023-2024 school year. If your child is interested in attending, please refer to the flier below for more information.
In other news, Ms. Worrell and her Holocaust and Genocide classes recently took a memorable journey to the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. The students had a unique opportunity to witness artifacts and exhibits that aligned with their year-long studies. Their time in the nation's capital was filled with learning, reflection, and appreciation for the history they explored. We commend the students for their engagement and enthusiasm throughout this educational experience.
We also take great pride in the achievements of our alumni. We would like to congratulate Tyler Sost, a member of the Class of 2016, who recently graduated from flight school as a Naval Flight Officer. Tyler will be serving as a back seat officer in an F18 Super Hornet. We express our gratitude to Tyler for his service to our country and wish him the best in his future endeavors.
We would also like to acknowledge the outstanding performance of our Boys Track team at the South Jersey Group 4 Championships in Pennsauken. The team secured an impressive 3rd place overall. Congratulations to all the members for their hard work and dedication. Special recognition goes to Ahmad Fogg for winning the Long Jump and Jamil Wilkins for securing victory in the Triple Jump.
For those of you who will be playing a Fall sport for EHT High School next year, we invite you to join us at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, June 14th to meet your high school coach. The evening will start in the High School Auditorium at 6:30 PM with a brief presentation from the Athletic Department and Director of Athletics, Kevin Rutledge. Parents and athletes will then transition to breakout rooms to meet their coaching staff and receive important information for the upcoming 2023 Fall Season. Additionally, we have some exciting news to share as we introduce the newest members of our EHTHS staff, Charlie and Marty, our therapy dogs. Our handlers will be present to introduce Charlie and Marty and answer any questions you may have regarding this incredible new program. This event is for parents and athletes of high school students who wish to participate in EHT Fall Sport programs next school year. If you are unable to attend this meeting, we encourage you to reach out to your prospective Varsity Head Coaches for any missed information. Staff emails can be found on our EHTNJAthletics.com website.
We are immensely proud of our students, alumni, and the entire EHTHS community for their remarkable accomplishments. Together, we celebrate their hard work and dedication.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Ms. Carugno
Alumni News
Here is a wonderful update sent to Guidance Counselor Nicole Harris regarding alumni Tyler Sost. Class of 2015, from his father:
"Tyler graduated from flight school on 5/25/23 as a Naval Flight Officer. He is going to be in the back seat (like Goose) in a F18 Super Hornet. When I was thinking about his path traveled, I thought of you and how you saved him from me. His path was not my path but I learned we are all different and travel at different speeds in different directions thanks to you. Thank you so much! Tom"

#DAY 1
The High School will be continuing with this bullying-prevention program for this school year!
#DAY1--a staff and student-led philosophy that will serve to foster a building-wide atmosphere of kindness and inclusion.
This program was started a few years ago in Bergen County by the Tyler Clementi Foundation and has gained momentum throughout the state and country for use in schools, community groups, workplaces, and sports teams.
The premise is simple: the adults in the building make a “declaration statement” about behavior that is expected, as well as behavior that is unacceptable, and we all pledge to conduct ourselves accordingly. This includes seeking help when we witness unacceptable behavior occurring.
This notion is called being an #Upstander
Has your student taken their #Upstander Pledge yet?!?
Have them sign into their school account and click here! 😊
If you'd like more information on #Day1, please go to: https://tylerclementi.org/day1/
