Brookline School Committee News

Following the May 6 Town Election, the School Committee conducted its annual reorganization. Valerie Frias was elected Chair of the School Committee, and Sarah Moghtader was elected Vice Chair. The School Committee is composed of 9 members, each serving a 3-year term. Click here to learn more about your School Committee members.

The School Committee discussed the process for identifying an Interim Superintendent. The position has been posted, and applications will be accepted until the position is filled. The Committee plans to discuss a more detailed proposal for the interview and selection process at their May 22 meeting, including - to the extent feasible - possible ways to include community participation. Helen Charlupski served as a member of the Brookline School Committee for 33 years, from 1992-2025. Please join the School Committee as they honor Helen and recognize her incalculable contributions to the PSB at a reception on Thursday, May 22 at 5:30pm (speaking program to begin at 6:00). All are welcome!

*Celebrating Staff with 30-Years of Service

Every year, the School Committee recognizes staff who have served the district for 30 years.

This year, the celebration is scheduled for Thursday, June 5. The reception will begin at 5:30pm and the speaking program will start promptly at 6:00.

The schedule of all School Committee meetings is available on the Town's agenda center. As each meeting approaches, the agenda and supporting documents are uploaded. Meeting agendas will always include the time, location, method of remote access, and (for regular meetings) details for public comment.
